◆news n. 新闻,一般指通过广播、电视、报纸等媒介向大众发布的社会各方面的最新消息,它侧重一个“新”字,是不可数名词。如:
There’s a piece of interesting news in today’s newspaper. 在今天的报纸上有一则有趣的新闻。 考点精讲 ◆information n. 信息,通常指在阅读、观察、谈话或书信往来中需要特别关注的消息、情报、资料等。它侧重的是内容,是不可数名词。如:

这四个词（短语）均有“期待；希望”之意，但各自用法、搭配不同。具体区别如下：
◆hope指有可能达成或实现的愿望，常用结构hope to do sth./hope +that从句。如： I hope to visit Beijing some day.我希望有一天可以参观北京。
◆expect 强调“预计”，把握较大。常用结构expect sb. to do sth.和expect to do sth.。如：
I expect him to come here soon.我预计他很快就会来这儿。
◆wish表示实际上不可能或难以实现的愿望，后面跟代词、名词、不定式或宾语从句；wish也常用于祝贺语中。如： When I was young, I wish I were a fish in the river. 当我小的时候，我希望我是河里的一条鱼。

◆look forward to 指“期望、期待某事”，常用结构 look forward to sth./doing sth.。如：

考向2：该句式相当于How do you like...?如:
What do you think of this book?=How do you like this book? 你认为这本书怎么样？
考向3：think of 意为“考虑,着想,想起”。如:
Lei Feng always thinks of others.雷锋总是为他人着想。考点七 询问职业的句型（2014娄底23题）
英语中询问他人职业的常用句型有:
考向1：What do /does+sb.+do? 某人是做什么的？如:
—What does your uncle do? 你叔叔是做什么的？
—He is a driver. 他是一名司机。 考向2：What+be+sb.？某人是（做）什么（的）？如:
—What is your mother? 你妈妈是（做）什么（的）”?
—My mother is a doctor. 我妈妈是一名医生。
考向3：What is one's job? 某人的工作是什么？如:
—What's your brother's job? 你哥哥的工作是什么？
—He's an engineer. 他是一位工程师。
注意：以上三种问句的回答都是“sb.+be+表示职业的名词”。考点八 promise 的用法如：
If you make a promise, you should keep it.如果你许下一个诺言，你就应该遵守它。
She kept a promise to buy a beautiful gift for me. 她承诺给我买一件漂亮的礼物。
