Step 1 Lead-in
1. Show some pictures of celebration scenes of public holidays in different countries on the screen. Ask students: "What can you see in these pictures " "Which public holiday do you think it is "
2. Guide students to have a free discussion about their initial thoughts and feelings regarding public holidays. Encourage them to share personal experiences to public holidays.
3. Invite several students to briefly present their viewpoints to the class, fostering an active and interactive learning atmosphere.
Step 2 Vocabulary Learning
1. Present the new words "celebration", "flag", "independence", etc. through multimedia. Explain their meanings using vivid pictures, clear example sentences, and simple English definitions.
2. Let students follow and read the words aloud several times to ensure correct pronunciation. Then, conduct exercises:spelling competitions and matching the words with their corresponding meanings to reinforce memory and understanding.
Step 3 Grammar Explanation
1. Start by reviewing the formation and basic rules of the present perfect tense (have/has + past participle) on the board. Illustrate with several simple and common examples to make the concept clear.
2. Present a series of pairs of sentences, one in the present perfect tense and the other in the simple past tense, and conduct a detailed comparison and analysis.
3. Explain the key differences in terms of time reference, continuity, and implications for the present.
4. Provide various real-life scenarios and ask students to construct sentences using the present perfect tense. Circulate among the students to offer immediate feedback and correction.
Step 4 Reading Practice
1. Distribute a short passage about public holidays to students. Instruct them to read it quickly for the first time to grasp the main idea and answer general questions: "What is the main topic of the passage " "Which public holiday is mainly mentioned "

Step 5 Group Discussion
1. Divide students into small groups and provide them with a set of discussion questions related to public holidays: "What public holidays do you know " "How do people celebrate these holidays in different countries " "What are the cultural and historical backgrounds behind these celebrations " "What are the similarities and differences in the ways people celebrate public holidays around the world "
