If you go to Zhuguanlong Village in Fujian Province, you won't miss a two- floor library. It is the first library there, which has been open for free for 44 years! The creator is one of its villagers— Liu Shijiang.
Why did Liu open this library Back in 1974, Liu finished his study in high school. At that time, villagers would ask him to tell stories. But it wasn't long before Liu’s stories ran out. Besides, many villagers played mahjong and cards to kill the time.“ How can I give myself and others a healthier pastime(娱乐) ” Liu asked himself. That's why he decided to buy some books.
He sold the only pig of his family for 200 yuan and borrowed another 400 yuan to buy books, bookshelves and chairs. As a result, more and more villagers gathered there to read books, such as storybooks or works about how to grow better crops. Over the years, Liu met with many kinds of difficulties. But he has been able to overcome them and keep his library open. Among readers there are the book- loving students and teachers.“ It is the busiest time for the library when the children are on winter or summer holidays.” said Liu.
Now, his two- floor library has more than 7,000 books and a computer, aDVD recorder and Karaoke, offering more entertainment(娱乐) and learning choices to the villagers.“I have spent my past years on the library, and I will keep her company(陪伴) in the following years,” said the man, now in his sixties.

Nature is beautiful, but it's also dangerous. As we have already seen, everything in nature must fight to live. Some things do their best to hunt and kill while others do their best to protect themselves.
Plants are no different. Plants develop all kinds of defense(防卫) in order to stay alive. However, some plants don't just have defenses. Some plants are carnivorous. If something is carnivorous, it eats meat. Carnivorous plants trap(诱捕) and eat insects(昆虫).
Carnivorous plants have several skills that they use to trap insects. One of them is called“ flypaper” skill. Flypaper plants have a sticky( 黏) surface. When an insect lands on the surface, it can't run away. After the animal is stuck, the plant will slowly curl its branch and eat it.
Another skill is called the“ snap trap”. If something“ snaps”, it opens and closes very quickly. There are only two“ snap trap” plant. One of them is the Venus flytrap, which is probably the most carnivorous plant. When an insect lands on the Venus flytrap, the flytrap's mouth snaps closed. Many people say that it looks like an animal eating its prey(猎物).
Lobster trap plants have another skill. A lobster trap is a trap that's easy to come in but almost impossible to go away. After an insect enters a lobster trap plant, it cannot run away. This is because the inside of the plant has very small hairs that stop it away. It has other hairs that force the insect to move towards the plant's stomach. Then the plant eats the insect. The plants are called lobster trap because people use similar traps to catch lobsters(龙虾).
We don't notice carnivorous plants very often, . In fact, there are about 630 different carnivorous plants around the world.

Beethoven practised very hard for very long hours. Because of this, he quickly became very popular. Many people enjoyed his music and liked to hear him play the piano.
However, at the age of 28, Beethoven suddenly started to lose his hearing. He had to stop his successful career as a pianist but he continued to work hard and did not let this stop him.
