When I travel, away from home, especially in India, I feel like Alice in Wonderland; I feel like I’ve fallen into the rabbit hole, or stepped through the looking glass. I felt everything is challenging, including my sense of self in the world and my ideas about how life and people should be.
In India, I meet other foreigners who tell me they think Pahar Ganj in Delhi is “the real India,” and who say the only way to travel in India is by staying in 150-rupee-a-night hotels. I also meet Delhi-born Indians who tell me they think Pahar Ganj is a ghetto(贫困区)and wouldn’t go near it. They prefer Delhi’s five star hotels and the shopping malls of Gurgaon.
I’m familiar with Indian life, but when I travel, I am seen as a foreigner and as if I know nothing about the culture. What’s the truth The truth lies in the fact that “a mirror in the hands of God. It fell, and broke into pieces. Everybody took a piece of it, and they looked at it and thought they had the truth.”
Perception(认知)is the reason one person loves Thailand and another Rome. The scenery outside of the window depends of our culture, age, and everything else that goes into making us who we are. I have long been into perception and the nature of consciousness. I’ve studied and practiced running for close to 20 years, which told me: truth is in your experience, your experience is coloured by your perception, and you are a co-creator in your perception and thus in your reality of life.
As is written in Talmud, we do not see the world as it is. We see the world as we are.
4. What do we know from this passage
A. The author finds the travel in India easy.
B. All of the Indians love five star hotels.
C. The author knows nothing about Indian culture.
D. People who love Thailand may not love Rome.
5. What can we get from this passage
A. The god helps those who help themselves. B. East or west, home is best.
C. We see what we are. D. Experience is the best teacher.
6. Which opinion might the author agree with
A. Perception can influence our understanding of the outside world.
B. The people looking at the broken mirror can get the truth from god.
C We should live in the hotel instead of the ghetto when travelling in India.
D. If we share the same culture, we will have the same perception of the world.
7. What is the best title of this passage
A. How to better understand the Indian culture
B. A colorful experience during a foreign trip.
C. India-a different but attractive country.
D. Perception is what lies behind our understanding.
C
It’s easy to think festivals are just about drinking and dancing, but festivals are also representatives of what a certain way of life thinks, the way they express themselves. I’ve been to over 60 festivals in 22 different countries, and I still want to experience more. One of the main reasons I enjoy going to international festivals so much is the fact that they are a microcosm of what they represent. Festivals are an opportunity to see as much as possible in a weekend into worlds so different, or even familiar, of my own.
Festivals are a fascinating insight into a group of individuals with a common understanding and the world they are living in. This is also one of the reasons I enjoy international festivals.
I ticked off a huge bucket list festival in Lake of Stars Festival in Malawi a few years ago. I was unwell and not my usual party self, but, it gave me the opportunity instead to sit and listen to the local poets. Through their poetry they enlightened me to some of the issues of the day — calling out their “fat government” and covering everything from housing, to relationships, to the nominal (名义上的) opportunities.
The importance of celebrating festivals abroad isn’t just to gather with your “tribe”. What I learned in a few poems at Lake of Stars Festival were fascinating insights into modern social issues and the Malawi of the present which I would have had to dig deep to find out. And I probably wouldn’t have bothered to, to be honest.
Even if only for a weekend, what I learned there from the poets and artists gave me a better understanding of what life was like in Malawi.
You never know what you’re going to learn when you visit a new festival. That’s all part of the fun and expectation.
Comedy makes current social issues fun, music makes them melodic (有旋律的), while poetry makes them considered and heartfelt. Festivals bring you them all.
8. What does the underlined word “microcosm” in paragraph 1 probably mean
A. Different view. B. Mixed reaction.
C. Rare opportunity. D. Small world.
9. Why does the author like experiencing worldwide festivals
A. He can learn about the world.
B. He likes having fun with others.
C. He expects to get job opportunities there.
D. He enjoys tasting a variety of drinks and food.
10. What does the author think of Lake of Stars Festival
A. Commercial B. Instructive
C Informal. D. Huge.
11. What is stressed in the text
A. The author’s wishes. B. The greatness of poets.
C. The significance of festivals. D. The differences between festivals.
D
“The arrival of ChatGPT will push educators to focus more on teaching subjects that technology is not good at.” Andreas Schleicher said, who is director of education and skills for the Organization of Economic Co-operation and Development. He welcomes this development and thinks it gives people the chance to concentrate less on tasks that technology can also do well.
The future is not about technology vs humans. The future is about integrating technology with humans. ChatGPT pushes us to think harder of what makes us human.
“The world no longer rewards you just for what you know. Baidu knows everything. The world rewards you for what you can do with what you know, and ChatGPT pushes us to work harder on this. If students are only as smart as a smartphone, it means educators are not doing enough. People should focus on developing human skills that actually are important, such as imagination and creativity.” Schleicher said in an interview with China Daily on the sidelines of the World Digital Education Conference.
The arrival of artificial intelligence (AI) really pushes people to think hard about what education is and the purpose it serves, as well as what knowledge, skills, attitudes and values humans have that complement (补充) artificial intelligence.
ChatGPT is not connected to the Internet, so it can’t replace search engines. Search engines such as Google or Baidu simply extract (提取) knowledge, while ChatGPT goes a step further and analyzes a search before providing a single answer.
As a device, ChatGPT is going to make learning much more interesting and powerful, but as a purpose and objective, humans need to work very hard to win that race with technology.
12. What may Schleicher agree with
A. ChatGPT is fighting against humans.
B. Students are just as smart as a smartphone.
C. People who can do with their knowledge will be more successful.
D. ChatGPT pushes educators to concentrate more on subjects technology is good at.
13. What’s the advantage of ChatGPT over Google and Baidu according to the passage
A. ChatGPT has connection to the Internet.
B. ChatGPT has the function of analysis.
C ChatGPT is a more powerful search engine.
D. ChatGPT knows more than Google and Baidu.
14. What can be a suitable title of this passage
A. ChatGPT to Influence Future Education
B. The Future Development of ChatGPT
C. The Development of Future Education
D. The Race between ChatGPT and Humans
15. In which section can you read the passage on a website
A. Tourism. B. Business.
C. Education. D. Amusement.

Last March, Margarito drove to visit his mother who lived in the countryside. When he set off for home, Margarito’s mother looked at the dark sky and noticed the sign of a coming storm. Worried about her son's safety, she told him to drive as carefully as possible on his way home and he promised to give her a call upon his arrival.
With his mother's words in mind, Margrito approached the main road carefully. Soon, it started to rain heavily. Eager to get home, Margarito began to drive faster. Two hours later, he came to a bumpy mountain road that had been flooded by a creek(小溪).Margarito, driving a four-wheel truck, figured that he would be OK. At that moment, he didn't realize that such a thought would be a big mistake.
It was halfway across the creek that an unfortunate incident took place: The rushing waters grabbed hold of his vehicle, pushing it off the road and sending it down a rocky creek bed. The truck finally stopped some 80 feet away. Margarito’s problems only grew from there as the water had somehow positioned the truck into the creek bank at a 45-degree angle, making it difficult for him to open the driver's side door. Injured and trapped inside with the muddy water rising quickly, Margarito was certain he was going to die. Shaking with fear, he was at a loss about what to do.
On the road right behind Margarito were a delivery worker named Steve and his nephew Mike, who were on the way to deliver furniture to customers in the countryside. They witnessed the horrible incident, and when Margarito's truck came to rest in the middle of the overflowing creek, Steve quickly began to take action. First, he grabbed a rope from the back of his vehicle and used it to ensure he could safely approach the truck.

I have long been into perception and the nature of consciousness. I’ve studied and practiced running for close to 20 years, which told me: truth is in your experience, your experience is coloured by your perception, and you are a co-creator in your perception and thus in your reality of life.

What I learned in a few poems at Lake of Stars Festival were fascinating insights into modern social issues and the Malawi of the present, which I would have had to dig deep to find out.

C People who can do with their knowledge will be more successful.
D. ChatGPT pushes educators to concentrate more on subjects technology is good at.
13. What’s the advantage of ChatGPT over Google and Baidu according to the passage
A. ChatGPT has connection to the Internet.
B. ChatGPT has the function of analysis.
C. ChatGPT is a more powerful search engine.
D. ChatGPT knows more than Google and Baidu.
14. What can be a suitable title of this passage
A. ChatGPT to Influence Future Education
B. The Future Development of ChatGPT
C. The Development of Future Education
D. The Race between ChatGPT and Humans
15. In which section can you read the passage on a website

【答案】范文
Next, he turned to Mike and yelled, “Give me a rock!” With the rock in hand, he hit the window over and over , but in vain. He didn’t give up easily; instead, he balanced himself, leaned back and threw the rock at the window again with all his strength. Fortunately, this time he made it — the glass broke. To his relief, it didn’t hurt Margarito, who reached out for Steve’s hand and was rescued. Without delay, the two men escaped and returned to safety.
Margarito was about to thank Steve and Mike when the mobile phone in his jacket pocket rang. With trembling hands, Margarito took out the phone and answered it. “Are you home yet Everything’s good ” His mother’s anxious voice came over. Tears welled up in his eyes on hearing the familiar voice of concern. Margarito choked up as he explained what had happened. Hanging up the phone, he thanked Steve and Mike sincerely. Cold as the rain was, great warmth filled his heart like never before.
