Lao She (1899-1966) was one of the most famous contemporary (当代的) Chinese writers. He is best known for his novels and plays. His works have been translated into over 20 foreign languages.

His original name is Shu Qingchun. Lao She is the pen name. The works he created won him the name of “People’s Artist” and “Great Master of Language”.
