I visited the Three Gorges Dam last week. It is on the Yangtze River, in Hubei Province. It is about 2300 metres long and 185 metres high. It is famous for being the world’s largest power station. 5. The sun rose behind me and shone on the rocks. Far below me, the ground fell away and down to a river.

behind, on, below, away和down几个介词和副词生动地描写了太阳升起时作者在大峡谷观察到的奇妙景象。

辨析 below& under
below指位置低于某物或在某物的下方,但不一定在正下方,其反义词为above
under指在某物的正下方,也可指覆盖于某物之下,其反义词为over
