When I was growing up, Dad would often give me chores to do to help out around the house. There were some of them I remembered most clearly.
The first was helping weed the four gardens. It was tedious work. I had to pull thousands of weeds in our gardens. The second was stacking firewood for the winter. It was hard work and I had to stack it for the whole family. I thought it was tiring. The third was getting water from a mountain spring and taking it to our house. It was a long and difficult trip, and I once cried on the way.
Over the years, though, I learned to see the rewards in all the chores Dad made me do. Having fresh vegetables for dinner was a delicious delight. Enjoying a big glass of iced tea made from the mountain spring water was a great pleasure. Standing by the wood stove on a snowy day in December was a wonderful way to warm up. I saw that all this work Dad had given me had made me a better, stronger, and more caring man.
Most of all, over the years I have also learned that when we do the work with a loving heart, it doesn't feel like work, either.
I just want Dad to know that I'm so thankful to him, because he showed me the real value of work.

Before cars appeared, people walked or used animals as transport. They rode horses, camels and even elephants. Travel from one place to another was slow and difficult, so people hardly went far. They couldn't carry heavy things with them.
Then inventors began to dream. What could go faster What could carry heavier things Could they make a thing running by itself
In 1769, an inventor named Nicolas- Joseph Cugnot found an answer. He watched horses slowly moving cannons(大炮) to the war field. Then he had a better idea. He made the first automobile, or car. Auto means“ self”. Mobile means“ moving”.
Cugnot's invention could move all by itself. His car was stronger than any horse. It could pull a few cannons at a time. But it wasn't perfect. It could only run about 7.8 kilometers(4.8 miles) per hour and had to stop about every 15 minutes.
In the 1880s, two German inventors came up with a better idea which changed cars forever. The new cars used gas(汽油) to run. They could run faster and longer, but they cost up to $2,000. It took a person in the US about four years to make that much at that time. Only the rich people could afford the cars.
But Henry Ford changed that. He made a car and sold it for $825. Why did he sell it so cheaply That was because he had a faster way to make cars.

We Should Protect Wild Animals
There are lots of endangered animals in the world, such as tigers and pandas. Nowadays people cut down too many trees. So tigers can no longer hide themselves. And even some people sell their fur for money, and there are few places for pandas to live in, too.
Animals are our friends. We could not live without all the animals. It's important to protect wildlife since we have only one earth. We must do something to stop animals from being killed. We can refuse to use ivory products and eat wild animals. And we can also put up a poster to tell people to protect animals. It is very easy and useful. Let's take action!
