Step 1. Pre -reading
Greet students and talk about the results of the quiz for their social skills. Then introduce Lily to them, telling them the main task of this lesson is to give Lily suggestions on how to improve her social skills.
Step 2.While - reading
Mini Task 1. Read the passage quickly and find out solutions to Lily’s problem.
Solution 1: Learn how to do small talk
Solution 2: Develop listening skills
Solution 3: Learn the rules

Mini Task 2. Learn how to do small talk
Ask students to read Learn how to do small talk. After reading, students will watch a video clip and find out Lily’s problems in small talk.
Ask students to work in pairs and find out what Lily should do in small talk according to the passage.

Get students to read Develop your listening skills. Then the students will watch another video clip and work in groups of four to find out Lily’s problems in listening skills.
