Pre--reading:
Prediction:
Let the students predict the main idea of the passage by looking at the title
and the picture. The purpose of doing this is to raise the students’ interest.
While-reading:
Task 1 Read the passage quickly and check the students’ guess in order to get
the main idea of the passage.
Task 2 Read paragraph 1 and find words and phrases to describe the road.
By doing this, the students can develop the ability of getting necessary
information quickly and accurately.
Task 3 Read the second paragraph carefully, and answer the following
questions.
By answering these questions, the students can deepen their understanding of the
man.
Task 4 Find the reason why he does it.
By asking the students to explore the reason, I intend to develop their right
attitudes towards volunteering work.
