(1)宾语从句中的关联词
关联词 关联词的作用 例句
that that本身无意义,只起连接作用,在口语中可以省略 I think that或不填 they're fun to watch.
if/whether 这两个词均可译为“是否”,在从句中不作句子成分,但是不能省略 Please let us know if/whether you can come tomorrow.
(2)宾语从句的语序
宾语从句的语序要用陈述语序。

第一课时(1a-2d)
Study of the Text
What:
This is the first lesson of the unit—a listening and speaking lesson focusing on the introduction of traditional festivals in China. Activities 1a-1c mainly present topic vocabulary, input new language through simple listening activities and introduce festivals in different regions. Activities 2a-2d aim to train and develop students' listening and speaking skills.
Why:
Activity 1a presents festivals by using illustrations. Activities 1b-1c guide students to recognize the structure of objective clauses, demonstrate the use of this structure in English through listening practice and oral communication activities respectively, and introduce basic information about festivals. 2a-2d enrich the language input of the topic of traditional festivals through further listening and speaking activities.
How:
Three dialogues, introducing the Dragon Boat Festival and the Water Festival through listening materials, providing elements and frameworks for the festival introduction.
Teaching Objectives
1.To tell the time, customs and the meaning of the Dragon Boat Festival and the Water Festival by listening and speaking.
2.To introduce traditional festivals and express opinions by making conversations.
3.To talk about the value behind traditional Chinese festivals.

Teaching Focus:
1.Be able to listen to conversations about festive activities and accurately capture detailed information about the speakers.
2.Be able to use objective clauses with that to state one's own or relay others' opinions and reactions, and objective clauses with if/whether to ask for information.
Teaching Difficulty:
Extract key information from the listening audio; use sentences containing objective clauses with that/if/whether to express their opinions about the holiday.
Teaching Process
Step 1 Lead-in
1.Show some pictures to students, ask them questions and let them answer.(详见课件资源)
T: There are so many festivals in China and other countries.

2.Introduce some of these festivals.
Purpose To stimulate students' knowledge by discussing traditional Chinese festivals and their celebration times based on the pictures.
Step 2 Pre-listening
Work on 1a.
Match the pictures with the descriptions.
Activity 1: Ask the students to complete 1a individually first. Then check the answers and read the descriptions in 1a with their partners.

Activity 2: Ask the students to describe pictures a-d in pairs.Then let some pairs present their conversations to the class.
A: What a great day! What did you like best
B: I loved the races! But I guess it was a little too crowded.
Activity 3: How much do you know about the Dragon Boat Festival Watch a video and know more about the Dragon Boat Festival.
Purpose To set the scene, increase students' vocabulary and introduce the target language.
Step 3 While-listening
1.Listen for the general idea of 1b.

Listen and circle “T” for true or “F” for false.
Purpose To help students recognize the target language in natural speech.
Step 4 Post-listening
1.Talk about the festivals in 1a.
We have known some different festivals. Now you can talk about the festivals in 1a in pairs to practice. e.g.

2.Students work in pairs to show their conversations.
Purpose To give students the opportunity to use the target language in natural speech.
Step 5 While-listening
1.Listen for the specific ideas of 2a.
Wu Ming and Harry are talking about the Dragon Boat Festival, too. Let's listen for the specific ideas. Listen to the conversation between Wu Ming and Harry and circle the correct words in the sentences.
Purpose To give students listening practice using the target language.
2.Listen for the specific ideas of 2b.
T: Now we all know that Wu Ming did a lot of fun activities, but there were also downsides. Please listen again and fill in the chart in 2b.
Purpose To give students practice in listening for specific items in conversations.
Step 6 Post-listening
Now listen again and fill in the blanks.
Wu Ming visited his aunt and uncle in Hong Kong. They ate out a lot. He believes that they ate at least five meals a day . He has put on five pounds . He spent so much money in shopping . The best part of the trip was the Dragon Boat Festival . He thinks the perfect time to visit Hong Kong is in June because of the boat races .

Step 7 Role-play the conversation

Purpose To give students a deep understanding of the conversation in the process of reading and let them prepare for the following role-play.
3.Listen and repeat. Then, ask students to practice the conversation in groups for some time. Lastly, ask some pairs to role-play the conversation and see which pair is the best.
Purpose To give students the opportunity to use the target language in a controlled manner.

第二课时(3a-3c)
Study of the Text
What:
This is a reading lesson, which is centered on the origin and customs of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Students are required to talk about the background knowledge of the Mid-Autumn Festival and to be able to describe the origins of traditional Chinese festivals in English as well as to appreciate the strong feelings behind traditional festivals.
Why:
Activity 3a asks two questions to help students grasp the main content of the text. Activity 3b sequences the relevant events according to the development of the storyline. Activity 3c is to test and consolidate the understanding of the text.
How:
The introduction of the origin of the Mid-Autumn Festival is a unique cultural content in China, and students are already familiar with the back story. On the one hand, it strengthens students' deeper understanding of reading.On the other hand, it enables students to know how to introduce the culture of their country in English, learn to communicate and understand each other, and then improve the sense of cross-cultural communication.
Teaching Objectives
1.To use reading strategies to read and understand texts, and to develop reading skills and abilities, such as sequencing events according to the development of the storyline.
2.To extract, organize and summarize key information, opinions and feelings about the origin and customs of the Mid-Autumn Festival in the text through independent, cooperative and exploratory learning under the guidance of the teacher.
3.To make reasonable inferences about the development of the plot and characterization on the basis of understanding the content of the story, and to deeply understand the meaning behind traditional Chinese festivals.

What:
This is a grammar lesson.Grammar Focus summarizes the use of objective clauses and exclamatory sentences.4a provides practice in the use of objective clauses and exclamatory sentences, and 4b is an exercise in writing for the target language.4c allows students to complete the task in the form of a report on their own preferences for traditional festivals.
Why:
Grammar Focus and 4a-4c let students understand, practice and use the target sentence structures of the unit. 4a focuses on training students to understand objective clauses and exclamatory sentences, 4b lets students learn to recognize and use objective clauses in a certain context, and 4c highlights the communicative use of the grammar content of the unit.
How:
From table examples to modeling exercises, from scenarios to reports, students can understand the culture of Western festivals, use objective clauses with that/if/whether and exclamatory sentences with what/how, and talk about their own knowledge and opinions about traditional Chinese festivals.
