第一课时(1a-1d)
Study of the Text
What:
This is a listening and speaking lesson, which mainly focuses on the Western festival—Halloween. 1a lets students learn and understand vocabulary and phrases about Halloween, and 1b-1c are for students to learn about Halloween by answering questions and filling in the blanks. 1d is for students to communicate with their peers about their opinions about Halloween, which is a kind of natural output.
Why:
First, students are presented with Halloween, a traditional festival abroad, through festival pictures, introducing culturally exclusive phrases related to this festival. Then through 1b-1d listening and speaking activities, students are trained in listening skills and speaking skills based on the content of this festival, with a focus on training students to be able to use objective clauses to express their own opinions.
How:
Talk about the culture and customs about Halloween and opinions about Halloween through two-person situational dialogue. Focusing on the cultural connotations of the festival allows students to gain a deeper understanding of Western culture.

1.To use new vocabulary and objective clauses correctly in the context of talking about Halloween, and understand Halloween-related culture and customs by listening, watching and speaking.

Study of the Text
What:
This is a reading lesson. It is centered around Christmas in the West. By exploring the meaning of Christmas and telling the story of Scrooge's transformation, the reading discourse aims to convey the following message to students: concern,empathy and compassion are valuable assets of human society, which should be inherited and promoted by all people in order to give back to the society with love.
Why:
Linguistically exclusive vocabulary related to this festival is presented and the learning of key sentence structures is further strengthened. In terms of skills, the reading process is emphasized to cultivate students' comprehensive language skills; in terms of strategies, the focus is on training students' deeper comprehension of reading.
How:
The spirit of Christmas and the related story of A Christmas Carol are introduced, and the reading skill of inference is used to analyze the main character's behavior, and then to understand the character's personality and the changes before and after, so as to achieve a deeper understanding of the meaning of Christmas.
Teaching Objectives
1.To find out the behavior of the main character through reading strategies such as prediction, searching and skimming, and speculation, and then to understand the details of the character's personality and the changes before and after, so as to achieve a deeper understanding of the true meaning of Christmas.

Teaching Focus:
Students will be able to guess the meaning of new vocabulary in the text through the context of the preceding and following texts, and retell the story based on their understanding of the story as a whole.
