Before my first hike to the Rocky Mountains, I was a homebody. I had friends to hang out with, several hobbies, and I felt comfortable spending weeks or even months in my hometown without going anywhere. I thought there was no difference between seeing something on TV and seeing something with one’s own eyes.
The situation changed one day when Adam, my best friend, came to my room. He succeeded in persuading me to join him on his trip to the Rocky Mountains.
This was my first time in the mountains, so I was turning my head in all directions. Unluckily, the weather was foggy most of the time, and the higher we climbed the mountains, the less we could see. But I still enjoyed the hike. I walked fast, and because of that I ran out of energy long before we got to the top. Adam knew how to save energy.
When we finally got to the top, nothing had really changed. The same fog was covering everything. I felt disappointed, as I expected to see the view from above and take some photos. We spent a couple of hours on the top, and decided to turn back. Then the wind suddenly cleared the clouds and the sun came out. It wasn’t until then that I knew how beautiful the mountains looked. And for some moments I couldn’t believe my eyes.
This experience inspired me to break through my limitations and accept new challenges. I realized that I wouldn’t be able to live a life without visiting the mountains at least twice a year.

The theatre changed a lot during Shakespeare’s lifetime. The authorities didn’t like it and didn’t allow acting in the city itself: They thought it had a bad influence on people and kept them from going to church. Queen Elizabeth, on the other hand, loved acting and helped the theatre become popular.
The theatre in Shakespeare’s time was full of life. People did not sit all the time and it was not
quiet during the performance. The audience could walk around, eat and drink during the play.
Theatres were open arenas or playhouses that had room for up to three thousand people. There was almost no scenery because the dialogue was the most important part of the play. Colorful and well-designed costumes were very important and told the people about the status of a character. Women never performed in plays, so young boys played female characters. The performances took place in the afternoon because it was too dark at night.
There was no stage crew as there is today. Actors had to do everything themselves—from making costumes to setting the stage. Plays were organized by acting companies. They performed about 6 different plays each week because they needed money to survive. They had almost no time to rehearse.
The companies in Shakespeare’s time had a rank system. The company belonged to shareholders and managers. They were responsible for everything and got most of the money when the company was successful. Sometimes they even owned their own buildings. Actors worked for the managers and after some time became a permanent member of the company. Apprentices(学徒) were young boys and were allowed to act in unimportant roles. They also played female characters in plays.
28.Why was the theatre banned by the authorities
A.It was more different than before. B.They thought it kept people going to church.
C.They thought it affected people negatively. D.The queen didn’t like it.
29.What does the underlined word “arenas” in Paragraph 4 mean
A.Stages. B.Stores. C.Companies. D.Playgrounds.
30.What do we know about the actors
A.They had stage crew to help them. B.They could drink during the play.
C.Women had to perform in plays. D.They were too busy to practice.
31.What is the author’s purpose of writing the text
A.To remember Shakespeare.
B.To show his love of Shakespeare’s plays.
C.To introduce theatres in Shakespeare’s time.
D.To discuss the company’s rank system.

We don’t think with a pen and paper. We “think” with Google. We don’t even have to complete the search question ourselves. Google’s auto-complete function takes that burden off our shoulders by telling us what we should be searching for and what we should be thinking. We then sort through selected results to find the answer to life, the universe, and everything. This process gives us the false impression of thinking — when, in reality, we’ve lost touch with one of the most basic of human experiences.
Thinking for yourself isn’t just about reducing external inputs. It’s about making thought an intentional practice and thinking about an issue before researching it. It’s about forgetting the habit of immediately looking to others for answers and instead becoming curious about our own thoughts.
Deep thinking requires time. It’s only by concentrating on the problem or question long enough that you’ll dive deeper and locate better insights. Most of us resist setting aside time for deep thinking because it doesn’t produce immediate obvious results. But ideas, as the filmmaker David Lynch puts it, are like fish: “If you want to catch little fish, you can stay in the shallow water. But
if you want to catch the big fish, you’ve got to go deeper.”
After you’ve gone deeper on a question by thinking about it yourself, turn to reading what others have written about it. But don’t pause your own thinking. The goal of reading isn’t just to understand. It’s to treat what you read as a tool — a key to unlocking what’s inside of you. Some of the best ideas that come up when I’m reading a book aren’t from the book. An idea I read will often knock out a related thought in me that was previously hidden. The text will act as a mirror, helping me see myself and my thoughts more clearly.
Breakthroughs lie-not in absorbing all the wisdom outside of you -but in uncovering the wisdom within you.
32.Why does the author mention Google in the first paragraph
A.To compare it with pens and paper. B.To remind us to do the real thinking.
C.To stress its convenience to our life. D.To give examples of its multi-function.
33.What does the underlined phrase “external inputs” in paragraph 2 refer to
A.Sharing your ideas online. B.Asking questions about life.
C.Making intentional thoughts. D.Seeking answers from others.
34.What does David Lynch think of deep thinking
A.It is worth the endeavor. B.It turns out to be time-consuming.
C.It requires some basic skills. D.It presents an exciting challenge.
35.Why does the author suggest reading after thinking
A.To find out ideas from books. B.To fully take in others’ wisdom.
C.To bring out our inner thoughts. D.To understand the question better.

A couple of months before I started high school, my parents gave me the greatest gift any teenage boy could ask for: a cellphone. I lived on that phone all summer with my face buried in its screen. I ignored my family and my surroundings. Being connected was more important than being present.
So, you can imagine my displeasure when I learned what my dad had planned for our family vacation that year. “This year,” my dad said, “we’ll be doing something special. We’re going camping!” His excitement was met with a disappointed sigh. It wasn’t my dream vacation because mind was on my phone. I was so buried in the screen, in fact, that the first time I can remember truly looking up was when we drove across a bridge on the way to our campsite.
I stared out the window and saw redwoods towering above us, their branches threatening to pierce (刺破) the blue sky. I saw a roaring river, with slivers of silky black water appearing between crashing white rapids. The air blowing into the car from the open windows was hot. But none of that mattered to me. The reason I had looked up was for something far more serious: my phone no longer had service.
The last hour of the drive was increasingly tense. My dad announced that he had chosen a campsite that had no cell service, and that my phone would be useless until we returned home. I would be trapped in the forest for four days with no way to contact the outside world! I went through the full cycle of teenage emotions during the first day of the trip. I raged. I bargained. I begged. I flip-flopped (转变) from a depressive state to anger and back.
I went to bed angrily that night. But when I awoke in the morning, something had changed.

You may provide one description and one album title that will be applied to all photos. Photos must be the original work of the entrant, who must be an amateur, and must not have been published elsewhere or previously won any prize or award. 25. 根据文章第三段“This was my first time in the mountains, so I was turning my head in all directions. Unluckily, the weather was foggy most of the time, and the higher we climbed the mountains, the less we could see.(这是我第一次到山里来,所以我四处张望。
根据文章倒数第二段“It wasn’t until then that I knew how beautiful the mountains looked. And for some moments I couldn’t believe my eyes.(直到那时我才知道山看起来有多美。

分析可知,“or”为并列连词,划线单词所在短语“open arenas”应是与后文“playhouses that had room for up to three thousand people(可容纳三千人的剧场)”为近义表达,即,可以容纳很多人的开阔表演场地,由此可推知,“arenas”应是“表演场地”或“舞台”含义。故选A。
根据文章第五段内容“Actors had to do everything themselves—from making costumes to setting the stage. Plays were organized by acting companies. They performed about 6 different plays each week because they needed money to survive. They had almost no time to rehearse (排练).
通读文章可知,文章首句揭示了本文的话题“The theatre changed a lot during Shakespeare’s lifetime.(在莎士比亚的一生中,剧院发生了很大的变化。)”
根据第一段“We don’t think with a pen and paper. We “think” with Google. We don’t even have to complete the search question ourselves.(我们不用纸和笔来思考。 我们甚至不需要自己完成搜索问题)”以及“This process gives us the false impression of thinking — when, in realty, we’ve lost touch with one of the most basic of human experiences.(这个过程给了我们思考的错误印象,而实际上,我们已经失去了与人类最基本的经验之一的联系)”可知,作者在第一段提到Google是为了提醒我们进行真正的思考。故选B项。
根据划线词后文“It’s about making thought an intentional practice and thinking about an issue before researching it. It’s about forgetting the habit of immediately looking to others for answers and instead becoming curious about our own thoughts.(这是关于让思考成为一种有意的练习,在研究问题之前先思考它。
根据第三段“But ideas, as the filmmaker David Lynch puts it, are like fish: “If you want to catch little fish, you can stay in the shallow water. But if you want to catch the big fish, you’ve got to go deeper.”(但是,正如电影制作人David Lynch所说,想法就像鱼:“如果你想钓到小鱼,你可以呆在浅水区。 故选A项。
根据第四段中“The goal of reading isn’t just to understand. It’s to treat what you read as a tool — a key to unlocking what’s inside of you.(阅读的目的不仅仅是为了理解。

根据下文“You would think learning takes more time from you, but actually there are always new ways of doing things that can save you time on daily tasks, freeing you up for the most important. Always be looking for a new way to gain back an hour here or there. Always be looking for a new way to gain back an hour here or there.
40.下文“Every completion is a small victory that adds up in a big way.( 每一次的完成都是一个小的胜利,累积起来就是一个大的胜利)”说明事情要一件一件去做,G项中的“making lists”与之呼应,因此推断G项“这就是为什么列清单在任何生产手册中都很重要的原因”符合语境,this指代上文“The world won't come to an end in most cases just because you left a few things undone. Celebrate progress and keep refining (改进) toward a happy productive existence.( 在大多数情况下,世界不会因为你没做完几件事而走向末日。

故第一空填teenage;同时此处表示作者的父母给作者一部手机作为礼物,故第二空填present;根据第一段中“I lived on that phone all summer with my face buried in its screen. 可知,作者的父亲要带其全家去宿营,故第六空中使用camping构成go camping的固定结构;根据第二段中“ His excitement was met with a disappointed sigh. Being connected was more important than being present.(我整个夏天都在用那部手机,脸埋在屏幕里。 He was so addicted to his cellphone that he ignored his family and his surroundings.
根据第二段中““This year,” my dad said, “we’ll be doing something special. We’re going camping!” 以及最后一段中“I went to bed angrily that night. But when I awoke in the morning, something had changed.(那天晚上我生气地上床睡觉。 The author and his family went to explore the forest together and had a great time, fishing, building a campfire, having a picnic and appreciating the beautiful starry sky.
根据最后一段中“I went to bed angrily that night. But when I awoke in the morning, something had changed.(那天晚上我生气地上床睡觉。
He would probably feel happy because he would find the beauty of nature and enjoy staying with family again./He would probably feel happy because he would find that being present is more important than being connected. /He would probably feel happy because he would find the real world and family are more important than the Internet world.
