I'm an astronaut and welcome to Node 1, the place on the International Space Station where we have our meals together and it is also the place where we can come in mid-afternoon or mid-morning for a quick snack. I'd like to show you some ideas of healthy snacks that we have on the International Space Station.
For example, we have a lot of fruit on the International Space Station. However, most of the time it's not fresh fruit. Sometimes we have fruit which needs to be rehydrated (补充水分),like these strawberries and the bag of dried apples. The dried apples are the things that I like to eat most on the International Space Station. Nuts (坚果) are also great food for a healthy snack. We often have lots of nuts on the International Space Station.
I also have the very special power food which was made for me by chef Stefano Polato and it has a lot of very healthy and nutritious ingredients (营养成分) and a special ingredient called spirulina(螺旋藻). Chef Stefano Polato will also show us how to make it at home! So, snack time is a great chance to put the right food in your body.

Proper hand washing is a good way of preventing the spread(传播) of disease, as it removes the dirt and germs(细菌) that can be spread to others and helps to keep the environment around you clean. Having clean hands is important because people often use their hands to touch their eyes, noses and mouths. Touching these areas gives germs access to the inside of the body where they can cause illness. You should always wash your hands before and after eating, after using the toilet, after blowing your nose, sneezing or coughing, after touching animals... Washing your hands is a simple process(流程) that gives great health benefits(好处). There are four simple steps you can take to wash your hands. These are:
Wet your hands with clean, running water. Make sure the water isn’t too hot or too cold.
Rub(擦) soap and lather up for about 20 seconds.
Make sure you get in between your fingers, on the backs of hands, and under the fingernails where germs like to hang out. And don’t forget the wrists(手腕)!
Wash your hands under running water to remove the soap, dirt and germs.
Drying(弄干) your hands is also a step that should not be ignored(忽视) in the cleaning process. Don’t put your hands on your clothes to dry them. Both drying your hands with a paper towel and using a hand dryer without rubbing your hands together are effective at keeping germs away. Rubbing your hands together while drying them under a dryer cancels out the benefits of hand washing by bringing germs within the skin to the surface.
