Wind is one of our cleanest and richest power sources, as well as one of the oldest. Something shows that windmills(风车) began to be used in ancient Iran back in the seventh century BC. They were first introduced to Europe during the1100s, when armies returned from the Middle East with knowledge of using wind power.
For many centuries, people used windmills to make wheat into flour(面粉) or get water from deep underground. When electricity was discovered in the late1800s, people living in faraway areas began to use them to produce electricity. This allowed them to have electric lights and radio. However, by the 1940s when electricity was available to people in almost all areas of the United States, windmills were hardly used.
During the 1970s, people started becoming more cared about the pollution that is created when coal and gas are burned to produce electricity. People also realized that the supply of coal and gas would run out one day. Then, wind was rediscovered, though it means higher costs. Today, there is a global movement to supply more and more of our electricity through the use of wind.

On March 14, one of science’s brightest stars went dark. Stephen Hawking, the world- famous British scientist, died at 76 in Cambridge, UK.
Hawking is considered by many to be the greatest scientist in history since Albert Einstein. He came up with the theory that the universe began with the Big Bang and will end in black holes. His theories became the base for a lot of later research. He also wrote books to help common people understand the universe(宇宙). His most famous best- seller is A Brief History of Time, which has sold more than 10 million copies around the world, according to CNN.
Hawking was someone who had a strong will. When Hawking was 21, he had a serious illness that stopped him from walking and talking. Later in life, he had to sit in a wheelchair and“ speak” using a computerized voice. But this didn't stop him from living a meaningful and colorful life.
Hawking traveled the world to attend science meetings, visiting every continent(大陆), including Antarctica. He was also a fan of pop culture and appeared on TV shows such as Star Trek and The Big Bang Theory. He celebrated his 60th birthday by going up in a hot- air balloon; when he was 65, he took part in a zero- gravity flight to experience weightlessness. He hoped to travel into space one day.

What has a tail like a monkey, a head like a horse, and a pouch(育儿袋) like a kangaroo It's the small, strange fish called a sea horse. Sea horses have long tails that they use to hold tight to sea plants. They use their long mouths to eat plankton(浮游生物). Plankton is an animal too small for us to see without a microscope.
Sea horses reproduce(繁殖) in an unusual way. The male has a pouch. The female lays up to 100 eggs in his pouch. The male carries the eggs around for six weeks. Then he works to give birth to tiny, live babies. The babies hold each other's tails until they go to the safety of a coral reef(珊瑚礁). Then they let go of each other and go their own ways.
If they are safe, the babies can live to be three years old. Since a sea horse must move through the water in an upright way, it cannot swim well. This means that it can't swim quickly to run away from the animals that like eating sea horses. Many animals don't like the sea horses' hard out er covering. Sharks, sea turtles will eat them, anyway. So sea horses get close to coral reefs. They mix with them by changing color to match their environment.
Sea horses must live in warm salt water. How big they grow depends on where they live. The biggest sea horses live off the coast of California, Australia, and New Zealand. Smaller ones can be found near Florida, in the Gulf of Mexico, and the Caribbean Sea.
