It is very important to be able to control yourself. Losing control may bring things that you would never want to see. We can learn something from the following story.
Once a boy often made trouble. His mother gave him many nails(钉子). She told him to hammer(钉) one in the garden fence every time he lost his patience and fought with someone. The first day he hammered 27 nails. In the following weeks he learned how to control himself better and the number of nails hammered became smaller and smaller. He learned it was easier to control himself than to hammer nails.
The day finally came when he didn't hammer any nails. He went to tell his mother about it. Then his mother told him to pull off a nail from the fence each time he didn’t lose his patience. After some days he told his mother that all the nails had been pulled off. Thus, she took him to the fence and said to him,“ You’ ve behaved well, but look at all the holes in the fence. The fence will never be again like it was before. When you fight with someone, you leave wounds in him like these. The trouble may be over, but the wounds will always be there.”

Over half of the host cities for the Winter Olympics will be too hot to hold such games by the end of this century, according to a new study. The study focuses on 21 host cities—20 former host cities and Beijing ( the place where the2022 Winter Olympics will take place).
“ The world of winter sports is changing as the global climate(全球气候) continues to warm,” says Daniel Scott, a scientist. He with his team studied how winter conditions in these host cities will have changed by February 2050 and2080. February is the month when the Winter Olympics are usually played.
Scott's team started with looking at historical winter conditions. They discovered that average(平均的) temperature in February rose from 0.4℃ at the sites of games held in the 1920s through the 1950s to 3. 1℃ in games held in the1960s through the 1990s. For games held since 2000, February averages are now about 7.8℃. Besides, they’ ve found that by 2050, average February temperatures will rise by 1.9~2.1℃. By 2080, temperatures will rise by 2.7~4.4℃ over what they are today.
They also studied the influence of temperatures on snow. Many winter sports need at least 30cm of snow. A city can on longer hold outdoor games if the snow isn't thick enough. Besides, daytime warmth can influence the quality(质量) of snow. Warming can cause people to sk i too fast or too slow. Skiing at an Olympic level already can be a dangerous activity and nobody will want to risk his life.
If we want proper temperatures for the Winter Olympics, we will have to hold the games at higher places. But few cities could meet this need.

( )39. What does the underlined sentence in Paragraph 4 really want to say
A. Skiing is a very dangerous sport.
B. Poor snow quality makes people sk i slower.
C. Poor snow quality increases the risk of accidents.
D. All the Olympic skiers need to be skillful enough.
( )40. What's the main idea of the passage
