三、阅读理解(共15小题,每小题2分,满分30分)

A lot of children feel uncomfortable about things they see when they are sick and taken to hospital. For example, the bag with medicine or blood may make them mad.
Things were changed by a girl. Once, an American girl hated these bags. She solved this problem in a simple and cheerful way. She tied the medicine bag to a teddy bear. The invention is named Medi Teddy. It's an animal toy which can hide the front of the medicine bag, and the child can just look at the smiling face of a toy instead.
Ella is a 12- year- old girl who got ill at the age of 7. Because of her illness, she has to receive a blood infusion(输血) every eight weeks in the hospital.“ When I had my first infusion, I was so afraid and surprised by the look of the medical equipment and the medicine bags. As I saw many other children experiencing the same feelings, I started to be interested in creating a friendlier experience for sick children, so I created Medi Teddy,” Ella said.
Parents enjoyed the idea and encouraged Ella and her mother to create more teddy bears. Thanks to many people's help, Ella and her mother have made a lot of teddy bears and sent them to the children who need them.
“ Ella described to me how she wanted Medi Teddy to look and I drew it,” Ella’s mum said.“ We then sent the drawing to the factory which made our first bear out of it. Of course, the design has changed a lot since then, but it's fun to look back at where we started. I'm happy that Ella can help other children.”

Computers and the Internet offer people new choices about spending time.
Many people may not have freedom to share enough time with some friends or family members, but new technology will also let them stay in closer touch with those they care most about.
Email makes it easy for me to work at home, which is where I now spend most weekends and evenings. My working hours aren't shorter than they were, but I spend fewer of them at the office. This lets me share more time with my young daughter than I might have if she'd been born before electronic mail became such a useful tool.
The Internet also makes it easy to share thoughts with a group of friends. Say you do something fun, see a great movie perhaps, and there are four or five friends who might want to hear about it. If you call each one, you may tire of telling the story.
With email, you just write one note about your experience, and send it to all the friends you think might be interested. They can read your message when they have time, and read only as much as they want to. They can reply when they are free, and you can read what they have to say when you have time.
Email is also an inexpensive way to stay in close touch with people who live far away. More than a few parents use email to keep in touch, even daily touch, with their children off at college.
We just have to keep in mind that computers and the Internet offer another way of staying in touch. They don't take the place of any of the old ways.
( )29. With computers and the Internet, people can have new ideas about .

Liang Chunlan, 56, a native of Dongguo, a village in Fushan County, is a member of the Chinese Folk Literature and Art Association. What's going to happen in the future Will robots control the earth Will computers become smarter than us
Not likely. But here are some things that scientists say are most likely to happen in 10 to 30 years from now, according to the BBC.
1. Digital money We used to pay with cash(现金) for everything we bought. Now when we take a bus or su b way or when we buy things online, money is spent but we haven't seen how it goes. In fact, we are already using one type of digital money. You have to agree that using a card is much easier than searching your pockets for money. It is also safer than carrying a lot of cash with you. When ATM cards were first introduced, they were not accepted everywhere. But now it's hard to live without them. It's reported that people in Sweden(瑞典) stopped using cash in every way last year, and the US might be next.
2. Bionic(仿生的) eye It's no longer something only in a science fiction movie. People who are blind may have a chance to get their sight back— by wearing bionic eyes.
A blind eye can no longer see light, but a bionic eye can use a camera to“ see” the environment and send messages directly to the head. Though the bionic eye that has been made now only allows patients to see lights and unclear shapes. A more powerful one could be just a few years away.
3. Self- driving cars Everything is going automatic(自动) these days— washing machines, ticket selling machines and even cars. They can do things themselves without people's operation or control.
Unlike a human driver, a self- driving car's attention won't be taken away by a phone call, the radio or something outside the window. Sensors(探测器) and cameras on the car would allow it to stick to the rules of the road and keep a safe distance from other cars. This would greatly reduce the number of road accidents. You could even have some sleep while the car drives itself.
Many car companies are now planning self- driving cars. By 2040, most of the cars on the road will be driverless.
