What is artificial intelligence It is the ability of a computer to think and learn. It is also a field of study that tries to make computers“ smart”. A scientist called John McCarthy came up with the name“ artificial intelligence” in 1955. Though people do them in different ways, computers can do many things, such as learning and solving problems.
A special goal of AI study is to create computer programs that can learn, solve problems, and think logically(逻辑地) like humans. Now we use the term AI for successfully understanding human speech, recognizing human faces, controlling self- driving cars and competing in some game systems like Chess and AlphGo. Some people believe AI can be a big danger to humans if it develops too fast. Professor Stephen Hawking, a well- known British scientist, was one of these people.
The basic language of AI is maths. Students who do well in maths will be more likely to become successful AI designers in the future. We not only need top students, but also need to attract common students and teach them the maths skills which are needed to become AI designers. Scientists hope to create more creative AI programs which can possibly understand human feelings or create art. They have tried many ways to discover this interesting field.
