Martin Lynch, an American businessman, had been going on vacation to a small Mexican fishing village for a number of years. One morning while going for a walk along the beach, he saw his friend Pablo Perez, a local fisherman. Martin watched Pablo unload his boat and pack the fish in a box.
Martin noticed Pablo was smiling and looked very happy. He could also see several large fish in the boat. Martin greeted Pablo and asked how long it took to catch the fish.“ Just a few hours,” replied Pablo. Martin asked,“ Why didn’t you stay longer and catch more fish ”“I have enough for my family,” Pablo said.“ And what do you do with the rest of your day ” asked Martin. “I take a nap, play with my children, spend time with my wife, and go into the village to see my friends and play cards, I have a full and busy life.” Martin explained that if Pablo worked longer hours and caught more fish, he could make more money. With the extra money, Pablo could buy more boats and catch more fish. By selling the fish, Pablo could open his own factory and sell direct to supermarkets.
“ Then what ” asked Pablo. “ Well you would probably have to move to Mexico City to run the business. Finally, you would be able to sell your business and make millions of dollars,” replied Martin.“ How long will that take ” asked Pablo.
Martin thought for a while and said it would probably take at least 15 years.
“ And then what ” asked Pablo.

From my father I have learned a lot. And I'm very thankful to him. I remember when I was a child, my father always got up very early, quietly putting on his clothes and going off to work. To arrive in time to open his tiny store at8:30, he needed to leave our apartment at 6:30. After all, he had to take a bus and then the subway. The last journey was a long walk through a neighborhood much of which was full of the smell of rubbish. I learned: it is very important to work. No excuse.
When I was 12, I would, on some Saturdays, go to my father's store to help out. After helping set up the outside clothing display(陈列), for the rest of the day, I'd watch to make sure no one stole anything. When I noticed someone looking unusual or strange, I would look the person in the eye, smile and say,“ May I help you ” Usually that worked, but sometimes, someone would run off with something. The first time, I ran after a thief but my father shouted,“ Martin, stop! There is no need to do that.” It's true that safety is more important than money.
After 10 years of hard work, he saved up enough money for his first car, a cheap one— he wouldn’t buy one until he could afford to pay for it without borrowing money. I learned: buy only what you can afford. Buying necessary food and clothing won't make us go in debt(债务). The unnecessary things won't give us happiness, which comes from achievement only.

Have you ever had dreams about building a robot Or putting together a spaceship Or even seeing your face made out of chocolate Done. All you need is a 3-D printer!
The possibilities of 3-D printing seem endless. All the user has to do is to design an object on the computer and choose a material to print in. The printers print in hundreds of different materials including glass, sugar and even skin! When the user presses“ print”, the 3-D printer spreads the material layer(层) by layer and like magic the object is produced.
The first 3-D printer was invented in 1986 by an American, Charles Hull. But3-D printing has only become cheap enough recently for most people to use. Designers now use 3-D printing to create unusual things. The Dutch artist Dirk Vander Kooj prints furniture made from old fridges. And doctors have used 3-D printing to print human body parts! The Telegraph reported in February that scientists from Cornell Medical College even printed a man- made ear.
But like a lot of new technologies, if 3-D printing gets into the wrong hands, it can be dangerous. In 2015 a group of four men in the US used 3-D printing to produce ATM skimmers. These were placed on an ATM and st ole over $400,000 from users of the ATM. It is terrible to think that bad men like them might one day use a 3-D printer to print a gun.
But for better or for worse, 3-D printing has been put into use. In a few years, you' ll probably be wondering how you could ever live without your 3-D printer!
( )27. According to the passage, people have NOT yet produced with a 3-D printer.
A. a gun B. some furniture
C. ATM skimmers D. a man- made ear
( )28. What is the correct order for people to use a 3-D printer
Choose a proper material.
b. Press the print button.
c. The 3-D printer spreads the material.
d. Use a computer to design an object.
A. abcd B. dabc C. acdb D. dcba
( )29. The underlined words“ gets into the wrong hands” in the fourth paragraph might mean .
A. the hands caught by the printer
B. to get into trouble
C. the hands used in a wrong place
D. to do something against the law
( )30. What does the writer think of the 3-D printer
A. It is necessary only for our work.
B. It is helpful but dangerous.
C. It is too expensive for most people.
D. It is useless in our daily life.
