教学目标
After this class, students will be able to talk about a person's lucky life using the new words and expressions we'll have learned today; get the main information of the reading by using some reading strategies; 3. learn the spirit from the disabled people ---No matter what difficulties we meet, we should try to face and overcome them.

Important points: 1. Encourage students to talk about a person’s life with the new words and expressions: wheelchair; control; damage; become ill, be unable to do, dare to do; by doing; focus on; think about. 2. Guide students to learn the spirit from the disabled people. Difficult points: Guide students to get the main information of the reading by using reading strategies.
教学过程
Step 1 Warming up Ask students the following questions to warm up with solo work, group work and pair work and prepare for next step. 1. Step 2 Pre-reading Learn about the new words and expressions of the lesson in sentences with the help of the video of “the Thousand-handed Goddess ” and the picture of Hawking by answering the questions “What do you know about them ” “Can disabled people live a happy life ” etc. Step 3 While-reading Task 1: Listen to the tape and answer two questions to get the general idea of the passage. (1)Who does the passage mainly talk about (2)What is the passage mainly about Task 2 (Skimming): Please skim the passage quickly and match. Step 4 Post-reading Task 1: Retell the passage according to these key words and phrases. Jane became ill because of a terrible disease. She is unable to do many things. But she dares to try many things. She can move by her wheelchair, she has a special telephone and she can answer it just by saying “hello”. Jane is married and has two children. Her son likes to kick the ball, and her daughter likes to play the piano. Jane speaks to people about the things she has learned as a disabled person. She thinks she is lucky.
