该模块内容选自外研社NSE八年级上册第11模块,本模块围绕Way of life这一主题展开,涉及三个单元的内容,Unit1为对话语篇,Unit2为配图短文,Unit3包括6道语言表达题和6道语言知识题,属于语言综合运用的单元。
Unit1包含两个听力对话文本,小听力描述了Betty、Tony、Daming等人针对Lingling喜好,讨论为其选择生日礼物的情景。通过完成书上的Listen and number的练习,培养学生读图及获取对话中关键信息的能力。大听力呈现了同学们赠送Lingling生日礼物的场景,由于Linging、Betty、Tony的国籍不同,接受礼物的方式和时间也大相径庭,因此展开了对各国风俗习惯的讨论。且以 “So what do I do ”展现了Linging遇上文化差异时的无措,以“I’m interested to know all the Chinese traditions.”展现Betty对于中国传统文化的喜爱。该单元旨在激发学生对不同文化风俗的兴趣,初步感受情态动词的使用情境,培养学生文化包容心。

单元教学目标——Module 11 Unit1 In China, we open a gift later. (2课时)
学情分析:
本校八年级学生有较好的学习习惯,上课活跃主动,积极参加课内外英语学习活动,初步养成记笔记等听课习惯,具备一定的自学能力,并且经常开展小组合作活动。已经初步掌握情态动词的语言知识,但缺乏辨析其差异及谈论风俗习惯的所需信息和相关词汇。
课标要求:
《新课标》提出,英语课程要基于学习活动观培养学生的核心素养,即语言能力、文化意识、思维品质和学习能力。根据课标三级要求,确定了本单元基于核心素养四个方面的目标。同时要求学生在对语言的综合运用中,体验中外文化的异同,形成跨文化意识,增进国际理解,提高文化包容性。
《浙江省初中英语学科作业设计与指导意见》中提出,要丰富作业类型,确保作业质量,关注能力指向围绕单元或模块主题,依据课型特点,精心选择课时作业,设计与教学内容相应的体现听、说、读、看、写的语言能力的作业。引导学生在完成作业过程当中提升语言和思维能力。并创设真实的作业情境,建立课堂所学知识和技能与学生生活实际体验关联,设计丰富的作业类型,延伸做设计复习拓展类,延伸拓展延伸类和综合实践类等多种类型作业。
作业目标:
通过本单元的作业,学生能够:
听懂明确项目内容,完成KWH表格,明确项目任务步骤,完成介绍家乡风俗习惯的项目探索。
基于思维导图主题词gift、traditions at the Spring Festival发散思维,获取并梳理与主题相关的词汇表达,如chocolate,chess set,accept,video,toy等;
了解情态动词can/ can’t, need/ needn’t, must/mustn’t在表情达意上的用法,学会用情态动词表达建议,巩固情态动词的用法,加深对目标语言的掌握与使用,培养学生语用能力;
通过梳理生日及春节风俗,概括并整合描述风俗习惯时需用到的语言表达;
通过小组合作探究,锻炼口语表达能力和合作意识。
感受家乡风俗习惯的魅力,进一步表达自己对家乡风俗的爱,对家乡文化的尊重和文化自信。
运用相关的语言表达,对照评价表,与同伴描述更多的传统文化差异。
(五)作业内容:
Session 1:
Task 1:Draw a mind map and make a vlog to introduce the traditions and customs in your hometown and write an email to Kate, which includes:
A brief introduction: where you are from; which tradition/custom it is; what you think of it.
Detailed assignments:
Before class
Lead in the project and discuss Task 1.
Brainstorm and fill the KWH chart about the traditions.
Finish the worksheet 1(附录1课前导学案) before class.

During class
Learn how to introduce the traditions/ customs during the class.
Learn the new words, expressions and sentence structures to give a report to introduce it.
After class
Read the dialogue in P88 fluently.
Brainstorm and collect more information for giving the report.
Prepare to take some pictures and add the report to make the first draft of your vlog.

Before class:
Check the answers of the optional exercise 1 in group.
Share the report in group.
During the class:
Share the best group report in class and give comments according to the checklist.
Discuss and polish the report to make it an article.
