教学目标
语言能力: 能正确使用含有wh-问句的宾语从句,以书面形式礼貌地询问信息。 思维品质: 遇到困难时,礼貌地请求帮助,并在交际中遵守英语交际的基本礼仪。 文化意识: 在学习语言的同时提升学生使用语言的礼貌意识和得体性意识,能够在不同场合下礼貌地使用语言,结合不同文化背景得体地使用语言,深刻意识并体会到礼貌、得体的语言表达与该语言运用群体的习俗与文化有直接关系。 学习能力: 掌握并尝试写作构思技巧及策略。通过话题引出问题,再以问题为线索进行联想构思,进而写作, 突出“情境设定”“问题生成”“寻觅答案”三个环节。遇到需要解决的问题时,在当时的环境背景下提出一系列相关问题,然后整理思路,逐一找出这些问题的解决方案,以文字形式逐条录入下来,产生写作需求,展开写作。

教学过程
Step 1 Warming up Integrate Exercise 2 in Self Check. Change them into some situations about a boy Eric’s daily life: with his teacher and classmate at school, in the shopping center, and in the street. He needs to ask his teacher, his classmate and a stranger for help politely. Ask the students to make up conversations according to these situations. (Purpose: To revise how to ask for help politely in the situations given. ) Step 2 Pre-writing Finish 3a. Create a situation for the students ---- Imagine you are going on a short study vacation at a school in an English-speaking country. What would you like to know before you go (情境设定) First, ask the students to think about the question and write down their answers on the paper. They may be interested in the courses, the food, the housing, the activities, the transportation, the cost and so on. Next, ask them to write some polite, indirect questions about the following topics. Then share their ideas. (问题生成) Tell the students “It’s normal to be curious about these things before going to a foreign country. But how can we get the answers to these questions We can write a letter to ask for the information.” (寻觅答案) (Purpose: To arouse the students’ curiosity and interest in finding out the information they want to know about going on a short study vacation at a school in an English-speaking country. ) Step 3 While-writing Finish 3b. Write a polite letter to the school asking for the information. Teach the students writing skills. The 1st step: Read the requirements carefully. Guide students to find out the key information: genre, topic, key points, person, and tense after reading the requirements “Write a polite letter to the school asking for the information you want to know. Use the notes in 3a.” The 2nd step: Make an outline and create a framework. List the structure on a piece of paper. Think about how many paragraphs you need to write and what to write in each paragraph. Write down key words first. In Para1, introduce yourself and say when you are coming. In Para2, politely ask for information. It is the topic of this letter. In Para. 3, thank the person for helping you. And express your expectation to receive his/ her reply. The 3rd step: Combine key words into sentences and combine sentences into a passage. Use the following expressions given. When writing Para. 2, teach the students some tips: Tip 1: Use some linking words, such as firstly, secondly, in addition, what’s more, in the end … to make it more logical. Tip 2: Add some related information to make the it richer. Tip 3: Use advanced words, phrases, or sentences to make it more brilliant. Step 4 Post-writing The 4th step: Check the writing carefully. Ask the students to check the writing from the following aspects: Key points, person & tense, structure, grammar, language and handwriting. Give them evaluation standards. The 5th step: Copy the writing carefully. Give the students an sample writing and read it together. Step 5 Practice Ask the students to write their own letters. Step 6 Peer assessment Ask the students to exchange their letters with their partners. Then assess their writing according to the evaluation standards given. Step 7 Self Check Ask the students to finish the exercises in Self Check. And then check the answers. Step 8 Homework Write a letter. Your friend James invites you to attend his birthday party. Write a polite letter to him asking for more details.
