Most people in their eighties would consider themselves lucky not to have health problems, but this is not the case with Toshisuke Kanazawa. The 82-year-old Japanese bodybuilder is not only in perfect physical condition, he also looks better than a lot of men a quarter his age.
Kanazawa is living proof (证明) that you’re never too old to hit the gym and achieve the body you’ve always dreamed of. A champion bodybuilder in his youth, Kanazawa stopped exercising completely after he retired at age 34, drinking, smoking and eating whatever he liked. It wasn’t until he turned 50 that he got his motivation to regain the perfect body of his younger years.
Kanazawa’s wife felt sick frequently, and the former bodybuilder remembered that she had never been happier than when he won the national championship. So to please her, he decided to return to the gym and completely change his diet.
His workout schedule had to be adjusted to his age as well. In his youth, he would spend up to six hours training in the gym every day, and his body would recover within two days after a particularly intensive (强化的) workout, but that was not the case anymore. He cut the daily gym time to three hours and started giving his body one week to recover after exercising every muscle group.
Kanazawa’s efforts paid off. In 2016, at the age of 80, Kanazawa defeated many opponents(对手) and placed sixth in the world in a contest for bodybuilders over 65, and won the admiration of the crowd.
Sport keeps this elderly man healthy, as he claims not to have suffered so much as a cold since he started bodybuilding again at age 50.
“I want to be a super old man in the bodybuilder community,” Kanazawa said, “If I have a goal, I can continue moving forward. I have to work much harder.”
What can we learn about Kanazawa from Paragraph 2

Barcelona’s opera house has celebrated its reopening to the public since the coronavirus pandemic (新冠疫情) put the world into a huge horror, but their opening night had an unusual audience. For its first concert, the theater refused the usual crowd of people and instead packed the house with plants. Yes, that’s correct. All 2,292 seats at the Gran Teatre del Liceu were occupied by leafy green plants.
The idea was put forward by conceptual artist Eugeno Ampudia and was broadcast live on the theater’s website. These lucky ficus trees, palms, and Swiss cheese plants-which were brought in by local nurseries(苗圃)- got the pleasure of hearing Puccini’s Crisantemi performed by the UceLi Quartet string musical group.
Ampudia hopes that his idea and the work will inspire people to think more deeply about their relationship with nature and the concept of sustainability (持续性). “We are at the end of an era and that means that we have to change certain patterns,” he shares. “We don’t live in the same world as 90 days ago, and this means we have to reflect on everything that we do.”
As plants can respond to different vibrations ( 震 动 ) caused by music, they certainly weren’t a passive audience — even if they weren’t able to give applause. Now that the concert is over, each plant will be given to a different frontline healthcare worker who helped guide the country through its battle with the coronavirus.
The moving concert is a continuation of the Liceu’s mission to create a dialogue between music and the visual arts. Pictures and a video of the performance taken by Ampudia will now become part of La Caixa contemporary (当代的) art collection.

Which statement may Eugeno Ampudia agree with
A. We did everything in a wrong way. B. The plants should have the equal rights.
C. The healthcare workers were more important. D. We didn’t do very well in dealing with nature.
In which part of a magazine can this text be read
A. Daily Hero. B. Teens’ Life. C. Animals and Plants. D. Art Around the World.

You may have already seen them in some restaurants around the world: robots. They are about the size of a
child. They can welcome people and lead them to their tables. They can deliver food and drinks and bring dirty dishes back to the kitchen.
Many people think robot waiters are the answer to worker shortages. Sales of robots have been growing in recent years. There are tens of thousands of them now moving through eating places worldwide.
But others say robot waiters still have a long way to go before they can replace humans. They cannot take orders. And they cannot walk up steps to different areas of a restaurant.
Still the use of robots is growing. In Madison Heights, Michigan, Li Zhai was having trouble finding workers for his restaurant Noodle Topia in the summer of 2021. So, he bought a robot from Pudu Robotics. The robot was so successful that he added two more; now, one robot leads diners to their seats while another delivers food to tables. And his employees load dirty dishes onto the third robot to bring them back to the kitchen.
Zhai said he now needs three people to do the same work that five or six people used to do. And they save him money. A robot costs around $15,000, he said, but a person costs him $5,000 to $6,000 per month. Zhai noted that the robots give his human servers more time to spend with diners, which increases tips. And diners often post videos of the robots on social media, which leads to more visits. “Besides saving labor, the robots benefit business,” he said.
But not all restaurants have had success with robots. Chili’s introduced a robot server in 2020. The restaurant company expanded the test to 61 U.S. restaurants before suddenly stopping last August. Chili’s found that the robot moved too slowly and got in the way of human servers. And 58 percent of guests surveyed said robots did not improve their overall experience.
What is Li Zhai’s third robot used to do
A. Lead diners to their seats. B. Deliver food to tables.
C. Take orders from customers. D. Carry away dirty dishes.
What do Li Zhai’s words mainly tell us in Paragraph 5
A. The popularity of robots. B. The low prices of robots.
C. The advantages of using robots. D. The impression of robots on people.
Why did Chili’s give up robot servers
A. They broke down easily. B. They didn’t work well enough.
C. They often made big mistakes. D. They couldn’t understand customers’ demand.
Which of the following can be the best title for the text
A. Are Robot Waiters the Future B. Will Human Servers Lose Jobs
C. Robots Will Never Replace Humans D. Robot Services Are Better Than Humans

Yours, Li Hua
My daughter and I pushed the overloaded cart in the store. She reached up and took another toy, and without asking, threw it in the cart. “Is that for you ” I asked.
“No, it is for my friend,” she answered. I was proud of her. Being an only child and an only grandchild, she could have been spoiled (宠坏), but instead she was caring and very giving, almost more than necessary.
On the drive home, my daughter was unusually quiet. Finally, she said, “Mommy, if Santa brings all the gifts, why are we buying them ” I quickly tried to think of an answer. Before I could say anything, she shouted, “I know why. We’re Santa’s helpers!” Yes, she took the words right out of my mouth. Yes, that’s exactly what we are.
After a few days, she came home from school quite upset, explaining, “Mommy, there’s a girl in my class who’s very mean (吝啬) to me and my friends. She is Lucy. We talk to her anyway, and when we asked her what she was getting for Christmas, she started crying. She said she wasn’t getting anything because her mother is always sick and her father doesn’t have the money to pay for anything, not even food.”
I calmed her down, knowing what she was thinking about.
One evening before Christmas vacation, my daughter began to wrap (包装) the gifts for her friends. I gave her a roll of wrapping paper, but she came back and asked for more. I thought it was strange, but I was busy then, only telling her to get whatever she needed.
On the last day of school, I had to leave for work extra early, so I asked my friend to pick up my daughter since she had quite a few gifts to take for the class Christmas party. I never actually saw what my daughter took to school.
On Christmas Eve, I went to wrap gifts, but all of them were missing. I looked high and low and couldn’t find them.
注意:1. 所续写短文的词数应为 150 词左右;
2. 续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好;

Finally, I woke my daughter. I frantically searched for the missing gifts but was unable to find them anywhere. My daughter looked at me with concern in her eyes. Sensing my distress, she gently took my hand and said, “Mommy, don’t worry. Everything will be okay. Maybe our missing gifts weren't meant for us. Maybe they were meant for someone who needed them more.” Her words struck a chord within me.
Early Christmas morning, a mother and a daughter came to our house. A knock on the door interrupted our thoughts. Standing before me was Lucy and her mother, holding a beautifully wrapped gift. Tears welled up in my eyes as I realized that my daughter’s intuition had led her to do something extraordinary. Lucy’s mother explained that my daughter had secretly packed the missing gifts and brought them to school for Lucy. In a selfless act of kindness, she had brightened Lucy’s Christmas and touched the hearts of everyone in her class. Hearing this, my heart swelled with pride as I saw the pure joy on my daughter’s face.
