A teacher says music education in schools has kind of turned into amusement. Classroom lessons focus heavily on pop while understanding the classic (古典的) art form and its history should be paid attention to.
Professor Walker, a professor in music and music education at the University or NSW, says students are missing out on an important part of the culture heritage (遗产) because they fail to study classical music, as the little music that children learn at school is mainly pop. The lack (缺乏) of music teaching is serious, especially in government schools where there are not enough specialist (专家) music teachers.
“I’m not against pop music, but it’s very simple, and not difficult either to play or to sing,” Professor Walker says, “But classical music is challenging and although it is part of Australia’s culture heritage, most children learn it only through Hollywood films.”
“At least children ought to know what’s happening in Western culture. It’s part of culture heritage,” he says. “Asian students know more about Western classic music than most children in the West.”
Professor Walker says no school curriculum (课程) in the Australia lists a piece of music that children should study.

At a concert in Tsinghua University, Fang Jinlong, a master of the traditional Chinese instrument pipa, and the robots from the Moja Robot Band performed several pieces of Chinese music. The robot musicians in the band, Yuheng, Yaoguang, and Kaiyang, played traditional Chinese instruments at the concert.
The team that developed the band was built in 2018. Mi Haipeng is the chief (首席) scientist of the team. He took part in the research and development of a robot rock band when he studied in Japan. That experience gave him the dream of making a Chinese robot band.
Mi said that the sound and playing style of traditional Chinese musical instruments are different from those in the West. Chinese people pay more attention to the feelings and expression of the players, but these are hard to control for robots. It also brings many posers to Moja robot development.
During the concert, the robot musicians used their “fingers” and “mouths” to play the instruments. Many students said that was the first time they had seen humans and robots play together. And they never thought robots could play so well.
Mi said the pieces of music in the concert were specially made for the robots to play. And there are more performance plans for Moja in the future, introducing new pieces of music. The team will improve the musical sense and emotional (情感的) expression of robots.

David Miles, an Australian inventor has been arrested because of cheating farmers. He charged the farmers up to $50, 000 Australian dollars for delivering rain on demand.
On the Miles Research website, Miles explains that he can influence weather by creating a bridge between the “present” and a “near-future event”. By applying small amounts of energy, he can change the future weather system.
Miles does not explain in detail how he is able to bring rainfall to the lands of farmers. He makes references to famous concepts like “the butterfly effect”. “We were advised not to show how it works. There are a lot of big companies that are trying to steal our secret. The only way is to fully prove our science and physics. “
Miles’ claims raised public suspicion for obvious reasons. A statement on his company website says that his technology uses “electromagnetic scalar waves”, which, according to scientists, doesn’t even exist. Therefore, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has warned people against doing business with him. But Miles claimed that the ACCC was only trying to harm the fame of his company. If it didn’t rain, he wouldn’t get paid.
“Consumers signed the agreement with my company. If by the end of June they receive 100mm of rain, they will pay $50, 000. If they only receive 50mm, they will only pay $25, 000. Anything under half of that, we don’t want to be paid, “ Miles said a handful of farmers agreed to take his offer to deliver rain.
Believe it or not, one of the farmers who paid David Miles for his so-called rain-making service said that he was quite happy with the results.
32.According to David Miles, what does his business do
A.To reduce the temperature. B.To change the solar energy.
C.To predict the future events. D.To influence the weather system.
33.Why did ACCC warn people against doing business with Miles
A.Because he charged too much for the services.
B.Because his practice will do harm to national safety.
C.Because he didn’t report his technology with ACCC.
D.Because his ‘‘electromagnetic scalar waves” doesn’t exist.
34.How much will be paid to Miles if the farmers receive 15mm of rain
A.$0. B.$12, 500. C.$25, 000. D.$50, 000.
35.What can be inferred from the passage
A.Miles needed safer facilities for his business.
B.Miles brought about good crops as expected.
C.Miles has successfully attracted some farmers.
D.Miles was supported by official organizations.
