An optional college course named “Appreciation of the Jiangxi Opera” has been taught in a packed house recently at Nanchang University in east China’s Jiangxi Province due to the professor’s innovative way of teaching—putting on actual opera performances in her classrooms.
Waving water sleeves, and spinning folding fans while wearing traditional makeup and costumes, Chen Li, the instructor of this course, displayed the enchanting charm of Jiangxi Opera, a several-hundred-year-old local opera, in front of the students. Many of the students recorded the performances and posted the video clips of the class on social media platforms, receiving millions of views and likes from netizens.
Instead of adopting the traditional form of stage play, Chen devotes more attention to her students’ interactive experience. “I invite my students to come to the stage and experience the whole process of the performance by themselves,” Chen said.
The course which she teaches has been open for many years, mainly introducing the history, tunes and performance characteristics of Jiangxi Opera. It’s not well known that this course, which is full of people now, was originally rarely attended. “Before, I used to focus on the form of speech and lectures while the teaching effect was unsatisfying: the classroom was quiet and the students seemed uninterested, many even playing on their phones in class,” said Chen. To stir the enthusiasm of the students, Chen decided to put on a costume and turn the class into a stage to perform. With traditional garments (服装) and brandishing water sleeves, students are immersed in the world of Jiangxi Opera.
Faced with the unexpected fame, Chen was satisfied but also realized that a greater responsibility now
rested on her shoulders. “I hope that even though the popularity of the Jiangxi Opera fades, this art can still be passed down through generations.” Chen said.
24.What is Ms Chen’s teaching method
A.Recording video clips of opera performances.
B.Giving speeches and lectures about the opera.
C.Employing the traditional forms of stage play.
D.Acting out the opera on the spot in the classroom.
25.What does Ms Chen ask her students to do in class
A.Give likes for her videos.
B.Invite more fans to the class.
C.Experience the opera in person.
D.Wave arms during the performance
26.What did Ms Chen think of her teaching effect in the past
A.Disappointing. B.Astonishing. C.Entertaining. D.Satisfying
27.What is the best title for the text
A.The crowded classroom means a lively class
B.Teaching Jiangxi Opera wins likes from students
C.A teacher performs in class to attract fans for her videos
D.Opera professor turns classrooms into performance stages

It’s one of the most common questions adults ask children: what do you want to be when you grow up Although childhood is supposed to be fun, kids also discuss important topics regarding their futures. Now, a new study finds that children who set big goals regarding their future status and education often set themselves up for success as they age.
The findings, published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, are the first to reveal a connection between life goal development and future success in school or the workplace. Rodica Damian, an associate professor of psychology at the University of Houston, and other researchers discovered that as children grow up, their goals naturally begin to change. However, as some childhood goals fall away, other goals related to a family stay strong. These include being close to relatives, building more friendships or finding a romantic partner, and even becoming more involved in your community or helping others.
During the study, researchers compared how their goals evolved as children moved from adolescence to adulthood and how a person’s goals impacted their success in school and as an employee later on. Overall, a child’s goals focusing on their education and future status were the most consistent predictors (预测因素) of income in adulthood. Simply put, when a child dreams big about doing well in school or achieving great success as an adult, these goals accurately paint a picture of how successful these children will be. So, the message is simple: dream big and dream of success, kids! Those goals can drive you to success when you grow up!
“Our work proves a strong connection between a child’s life goals, educational achievement, and future occupational outcomes. This information is valuable for parents and educators who can use it to encourage children to set ambitious goals. Additionally, it helps develop strategies to support individuals in achieving their goals and reaching their full potential,” Damian concludes.
28.What does the study mainly focus on
A.Why children change their dreams over time.
B.Whether childhood goals relate to future success.
C.Whether early education determines future career.
D.How childhood experiences impact a person’s choice.
29.Which of the following goals remains strong as children grow up
A.Connecting with others.
B.Achieving academic success.
C.Hunting for a high-salary job
D.Improving personal social status.
30.What message does the author convey in paragraph 3
A.Dreaming big is potentially associated with success.
B.Childhood achievement s greatly affect future careers.
C.Educational goals may be more achievable than others.
D.Adjusting goals can create new opportunities for success.
31.What is the purpose of the last paragraph
A.To explain the purpose of the study. B.To offer suggestions for future studies.
C.To stress the significance of the study. D.To point out the limitations of the study.

Spiders are master builders, expertly turning silk into complex 3D webs that serve as their home and
hunting ground. To gain a deeper understanding of their world, scientists have translated the structure of a spider’s web into music.
“The spider lives in an environment of vibrating (振动的) strings,” says Markus Buehler, the project’s principal investigator. “They don’t see very well, so they perceive their surroundings by detecting vibrations, which have different frequencies.” Such vibrations occur, for example, when the spider stretches a strand of silk during construction or when the wind or a trapped fly moves the web.
The researchers scanned a natural spider web to capture 2D cross-sections and reconstructed its 3D network using a mathematical model. They assigned different frequencies of sound to strands of the web, creating musical “notes” that they combined in patterns based on the web’s 3D structure to generate music. Then they made a harp-like (像竖琴的) virtual instrument and played the spider web music in several live performances around the world, creating an inspiring harmony of art and science.
To gain insights into how spiders build webs, the researchers also scanned a web during construction, transforming each stage into music with different sounds. “The spider’s way of ‘printing’ the web is remarkable because no support material is used, as is often needed in current 3D printing methods,” Buehler says. This knowledge could help develop new 3D printers that work like spiders, enabling them to construct complex structures without using additional materials for support.
The team is also interested in learning how to communicate with spiders in their own language. They recorded web vibrations produced when spiders performed different activities, such as building a web, communicating with other spiders or sending signals to admirers. “Now we’re trying to generate signals to basically speak the language of the spider,” Buehler says. “If we expose them to certain patterns of vibrations, can we affect what they do or can we begin to communicate with them Those are really thrilling ideas, and I believe they could be achieved in the near future.”
32.What do we know about spiders
A.They have good eyesight.
B.They adapt to surroundings quickly.
C.They spin a web similar to a musical structure.
D.They sense the environment through vibrations.
33.What is paragraph 3 mainly about
A.Steps to create spider web music.
B.Ways to recreate a web’s 3D network.
C.Challenges of combining music with science.
D.The potential applications of 3D printing methods.
34.What do the underlined words “This knowledge” in paragraph 4 refer to
A.3D printers can construct complex structures.
B.Spiders’ vibration patterns vary with activities.
C.Spiders build webs without using additional materials.
D.The web-building process can be translated into music.
35.What is Buehler’ attitude towards communicating with spiders
A.Hopeful. B.Doubtful. C.Uncertain. D.Disapproving.

Ten years ago, not many families in the United States would consider homeschooling a serious option for their children. There were negative feelings about homeschooling, especially among school educators, who considered it crazy or irresponsible. But things have changed now. 36 As homeschooling becomes more widely practiced, school communities are becoming far more accepting and recognize that it can meet real needs.
37 Homeschooling provides community life that is valuable to children. Participating in community life, homeschooled children relate socially with a wide variety of people. 38 Without social pressure from age-separated classrooms, kid feel more comfortable forming friendships.
39 We often hear parents and kids talk about how relieved they feel from being freed of traditional schooling and nightly homework. With independent learning, they have more time to talk and listen; more time to spend in libraries, museums, and concert halls; or to hike, ride bikes, read, or think. These changes are what happens when family life is driven by the needs of families, rather than the needs of institutions.
Homeschooling also creates better learning environments for children who have been wrongly considered as having all sorts of imaginary “learning problems” in public and private schools. The educators want the children to be fixed so that they will fit; the parents correctly sense that their children are fine and only need something different: more space, freedom to move, a safe environment, or respectful treatment from others. 40
A.Homeschooling helps children lo broaden their knowledge.
B.In homeschooling families, life is likely to be less stressful.
C.Some people choose homeschooling for socialization benefits.
D.Homeschooling success stories are often reported in the media.
E.People can see how easy it is to get along with homeschooled kids.
F.For these families, homeschooling helps a child build a life that works.
G.The combination of two kinds of schooling has a great effect on a child.

At one time children made May Day baskets to celebrate spring and enjoy the rewards of giving surprising gifts to their beloved ones. When I was in perhaps the third grade, our class took on such an adventure. For several days, we worked on creating paper baskets. We cut colorful stripes of construction paper and wove them together, following our teacher, Miss Anderson. We cut and wove and glued. Then we decorated them with our crayons and more cutting and gluing. Finally, we fitted paper handles onto the tops so that we could secretly hang our creations on the doors of unsuspecting receivers: surely our mothers.
We were finished right on time. Miss Anderson brought armloads of flowers for us to use in stuffing our prizes. Lilacs and tulips and al the colorful flowers of spring. We had to wait until the day was nearly over before we were allowed to choose the flowers that were just right for our baskets. I chose the biggest, most beautiful blossoms, allowing myself to be selfish for the sake of my mother. Then we fidgeted (烦躁) away what remained of our day, waiting for the clock to tick down the minutes to our release.
Finally, mercifully, the bell rang! We threw on our coats, gathered our homework and our lunch boxes, tied on our scarves and then, carefully, we cradled our offerings of love and off we ran to our individual homes! I was so excited! I ran as fast as I could down the hill, across the street, up the block, heading home. I paused at the corner of my house, to catch my breath and savor the moment. Then I glanced down to admire my offering one last time before I hung it lovingly over the doorknob. Horrors! Shock, dread and depression! My flowers were gone! Apparently, bouncing out on my mad dash home, all that was left was a sad, messed-up, wrinkled little empty basket! I stood on the doorway and burst into mournful sobbing tears.

Small changes make an ideal library
As a student, I am excited about the upcoming renovation of our library. Among the many possible
changes, I particularly hope for two improvements.
Firstly, I envision a cozier reading area with soft lighting and comfortable seating. This will create a relaxing atmosphere, encouraging students to immerse themselves in books for longer periods. Secondly, I believe the addition of more electrical outlets and USB charging stations is crucial. 67.范文
By and by, my mom came to the door to discover the source of the sorrow. As she let me in and relieved me of my school things, I tried to relate my horrible dilemma and the depth of my sadness. Mom listened attentively, and her comforting presence brought a glimmer of hope to my disappointed heart. Having wiped my tears tenderly, she gave me the scissors fetched from the kitchen and suggested I find some replacement flowers from our garden. This time, I chose smaller and more resilient flowers, carefully arranging them inside the basket. Seeing each petal radiating the purest colors of spring, I felt my enthusiasm began to return.
Soon, my newly-decorated basket was ready to be offered again. With the revived basket cradled in my arms, I embarked on a second journey towards home. Awkwardly, I placed the paper handle over the knob, knocked hesitantly, and made an embarrassed retreat. Mom slowly came and answered the door. Oh! She was SO surprised! I stepped out of my hiding place. “Well, Mary!” she exclaimed! “Look what someone left here! Aren’t they lovely! “ With her excitement all my worries vanished. My pride of giving barely allowed me to maintain the surprise but what mattered was to show mom she was remembered on this special day.
