There are too many mysteries in this world. Some of them are hidden in the most unlikely places.Others remain unsolved even up to this day.
In a small town of Gryfino in Poland lies one of the world’s mysteries—a small group of pine trees(松树).These trees look strange in shape. From the bottom, these trees grow with a 90-degree bend(弯曲) northwards, but then go back to grow straight up into the sky.
According to the scientists, the trees were planted around 1930.Most of them are very tall. Some even grow nearly 15.24 meters. That’s about the height of a five-story building.
There are many guesses at the mystery in the forest. Some suppose that the special gravity(重力) has caused the trees to bend northwards. But it may not be true, because gravity only pulls things down.Others guess that the heavy snowfall in the area weighed down the trees. However, if that is true, how would they explain the other trees that are different in this area
The most possible explanation is that local farmers shaped the trees when planting them then. However, that is only one of the guesses from people. The secret behind the trees is still waiting for us to discover.
(A)1.Why do people think these pine trees are strange in shape
A.Because these trees don’t grow in one direction.
B.Because these trees have too many leaves.
C.Because the bottoms of these trees are under the ground.
D.Because these trees are as tall as a five-story building.

The Great Pyramid(金字塔) of Giza in Egypt might be the most famous building in the world. We know exactly when it was built. This pyramid was built over 4,500 years ago and for centuries, people had wondered who was responsible(负责的) for building it. At one time, people believed that the aliens from outer space had a hand in its building, while others believed slaves(奴隶) were forced to build it. After years of wondering, people finally have found out the truth.
The Egyptian ruler Khufu ordered the building of the pyramid. It was built as his burial place. In the end, the pyramid was about 146 meters tall and 230 meters wide. Around 2.3 million stones were used to build it. While it used to be believed that this pyramid was built by slaves or other life forms, historians now know that this pyramid was actually built by 20,000 workers from all over the country. This knowledge was completely unknown until a tourist’s horse slipped(滑倒) by accident and found a hidden city deep in the desert sands.
After the horse slipped, historians went on to unearth(挖掘) the city where the workers lived, worked, and died. There were stores, work places, streets and city walls. These discoveries showed that the builders of the pyramid were not slaves or aliens, and it finally answered the question of who built the Great Pyramid of Giza.

But may not be true, because gravity only pulls things down.Others guess that the heavy snowfall in the area weighed down the trees. However, if that is true, how would they explain the other trees that are different in this area
The most possible explanation is that local farmers shaped the trees when planting them then. However, that is only one of the guesses from people. The secret behind the trees is still waiting for us to discover.
( )1.Why do people think these pine trees are strange in shape
A.Because these trees don’t grow in one direction.
B.Because these trees have too many leaves.

2.Who was responsible for the building of the Great Pyramid
3.Who built the Great Pyramid of Giza
4.Were slaves forced to build the Great Pyramid
