Study of the Text                         
What: It is a listening and speaking lesson which surrounds the superlatives and their antonyms, including listing words and phrases, matching pictures with performers, noting down adjectives and conversations. Students can learn how to evaluate performers or other people by comparison using superlatives.
Why: 1a is to help students accumulate more superlatives systematically. 1b is to consolidate students' vocabulary and link what they learned with their real life. 1c is to improve students' ability to judge and choose. 1d is to develop students' ability to listen and enrich their vocabulary. 1e is to develop their ability to practice and communicate.
How: Antonyms are given to lead students to summarize superlatives logically. Listening tasks including matching and charts are useful for students to tease out key information and enlarge their expressions, paving the way for talking about something or somebody.

Step 2 Cooperative work Work on 1a: 1.Point to the words in the chart. 2.Read the words and write down the opposites beside each of them. 3.Check the answers with the students. Work on 1b: 1.Tell your partner some characters of some people you know. 2.Talk about them with your partner, using the words in 1a. Observe whether students have mastered the use of superlatives. Pay attention to students' expressions, and instruct them to use superlatives in time. Remind students to take notes and accumulate more superlatives and the learning method of memorizing by an-tonym.
Purpose To review the superlatives and get ready for listening and talking in the following parts. To cultivate students' expressions and improve their ability to communicate.
2.To learn new words: creative, performer. Step 3 Listening(1c & 1d) Work on 1c: 1.Ask students what kind of activities can be shown in a talent show. 2.Look at the pictures and the names in 1c. Guess what performers are doing in each picture. 3.Listen. This school had a talent show last weekend. Some teachers and students took part in the talent show. Now listen to the conversation and match the pictures with the performers. Inspire students to express actively and encourage them continuously. Praise students' great job and lead them to recall more details about the talent show.
4.Check the answers. Work on 1d: 1.Skim the given chart in 1d. 2.Listen to the recording carefully and try to fill in the blanks. 3.Listen again and check the answers together. Pay attention to their answers and remind them to take notes to highlight the words which they are not familiar with.
Purpose To raise students' awareness of talent shows. To activate their background knowledge and lead them to learn about the context of the talent show.
3.Group work. Step 4 Group work(1e) 1.Work in groups. Look at the information in 1d and make a conversation with your partner. 2.The teacher gives an example. 3.Make a conversation about all the performers. Step 5 Discussion Q: What are you good at What personalities are necessary if you want to join the talent show successfully Observe whether students can talk about the performers logically and correctly.
Purpose To improve students' ability to express. Help them to practice what they have learned in their conversation.
Homework: Interview your classmates about their talent shows and arrange your own program(节目).

Study of the Text                         
What: This is a reading lesson whose topic is “Talent Show”, including American Idol, America's Got Talent and China's Got Talent. The passage introduces the topic first and then explains how the programs work. Lastly, several opinions on the talent show are listed to present different aspects of it, activating students' profound thoughts of the talent show.
Why: 2a is to introduce the topic “talent”; 2b is to lead students to learn about the talent show and activate their thinking. 2c is to help students to pay attention to some details of the passage. 2d is to accumulate and practice the use of superlatives. 2e is to make students connect what they have learned with their real life.
How: In the reading part, students can develop their reading ability, including analyzing the content and dividing the structure of the passage. In the question and answer part, more details can be mentioned to consolidate students' memory. In the writing part, students can enrich their expressions and consolidate their vocabulary.

Observe whether students can find all the superlatives effectively and pay attention to the use of superlatives in their sentences. Praise students' active work and logical speech on their choice.
Purpose To use what they have learned and develop thinking and language-using abilities. To consolidate vocabulary and grammar again.

Study of the Text                         
What: There is a passage about Greenwood Park, mentioning its street performers, coffee shops and expressing the author's feelings about it. Then there is a writing task for students to imitate the given passage. Lastly, there is discussion and Self Check for revision and consolidation.
Why: 3a is to practice correct superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs and serve as an example for writing. 3b is to help students to arrange information logically and get ready for writing. 3c is to practice writing and develop their writing skills. Discussion and Self Check are to review key points overall.
How: A passage with some blanks is given to both consolidate vocabulary and work as an example to analyze and imitate in writing. The chart and writing task lead students to organize their expressions step by step to make sure their writing is rich in the content logically. Self Check is for consolidation and revision.
