Section B
第三课时(1a-1d)
Study of the Text
What: This lesson is listening and describing different TV shows and movies. Several programs with pictures are presented and there are some adjectives for students to choose from to describe their feelings or opinions about the given programs or movies. The listening material is also about how to describe the TV shows or movies. Lastly, there is a conversation for students to share their preferences.
Why: 1a is to enrich students' vocabulary of description of TV shows or movies. 1b and 1c are to develop students' ability to listen and match and consolidate vocabulary in 1a. 1d is to practice what students have learned and improve their communication ability.
How: Adjectives and some TV shows or movies are presented first to enlarge students' background knowledge and pave the way for listening and talking. Listening tasks including circling and filling in the chart are arranged from easy ones to difficult ones to consolidate memory. Discussions are the last task for practicing.
Teaching Objectives
1.To learn new words: meaningless, action, action movie, cartoon.
2.To learn the use of some sentence patterns:

Study of the Text
What: This part is reading a text about Mickey Mouse which is an American cartoon character. The topic is familiar to juniors and easy to stimulate reading interest. The text introduces Mickey Mouse from three aspects, including its development, reasons why it is so popular and its influence. This part helps students to practice their reading skills.
Why: The topic is closely related to the topic of this unit and easy to stimulate students' reading interest. 2a is to activate students' background knowledge. 2b is to develop students' reading ability and practice their reading skills. 2c-2d are to lead students to extract detailed information and think deeply. 2e is to enlarge their vocabulary and develop their ability to write and express.
How: Firstly, related questions are arranged to stimulate students' reading interest. Then, the time line is useful to help students to develop reading skills and learn the structure of the text clearly. Some questions are helpful to extract detailed information to make students be familiar with the content. Phrases listed consolidate students' language basis for expressing.

Study of the Text
What: The first part is an example of writing and its topic is a famous movie about the traditional Chinese character Mulan. The writing part is also about the topic “your favorite movie” and lists main information that should be included.
Why: 3a is to review grammar and vocabulary learned in this unit and also works as an example of writing about a movie. 3b is to sort information and organize language for writing. 3c is to develop students' writing ability.
How: The passage with blanks to fill in is useful for students to practice and consolidate vocabulary and grammar. Notes with hints are helpful to prepare for writing. A writing task is arranged after sorting information to practice writing skills.
