East Malaysia (Borneo) shares borders with Brunei and Indonesia.
Penang is a Malaysian (马来西亚的) state
located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia, by the Malacca Strait(马六甲海峡). It has two parts: Penang Island, where the capital city, George Town is located on the Malay Peninsula (马来半岛).
Penang Hill covers a number of hills, with the highest point at Western Hill which is 833 m (2,733 ft) above sea level. Penang Hill is also known by the Malay name Bukit Bendera (升旗山), which actually refers to Flagstaff Hill, the most developed peak.

Monday, July 15th
I arrived in Penang in Malaysia this morning
with my family. It was sunny and hot, so we decided to go to the beach near our hotel. My sister and I tried paragliding. I felt like I was a bird. It was so exciting! For lunch, we had something very special — Malaysian yellow noodles. They were delicious!
In the afternoon, we rode bicycles to Georgetown.
There are a lot of new buildings now, but many of the
old buildings are still there. In Weld Quay, a really old place in Georgetown, we saw the houses of the Chinese traders from 100 years ago. I wonder what life was like here in the past. I really enjoyed walking around the town.

Language Points
1. I felt like I was a bird. 我觉得我是一只鸟。
feel like是动词短语,意为“给······的感觉;感受到”。
有以下两种结构:
(1)feel like+从句,意为“觉得好像是······”。
He feels like that he has never been to such a place. 他觉得他好像从没到过这样的地方。
(2)feel like+doing,意为“想做······”。
I feel like giving a party. 我想举行一个派对。
2. I wonder what life was like here in the past. 我想知道过去在这里的生活是什么样的。
(1)wonder是及物动词,意为“想知道;琢磨”,后接 who ,what, why, where 等引导的宾语从句。
I wonder who she is. 我在想她是谁。
(2) wonder后接that引导的宾语从句,表示“感到惊奇; 对······感到惊讶”, that常可省去。
I wonder (that) she has won the race.我对她赢得比赛感到惊讶。
(3)wonder后接if或whether引导的宾语从句,常用来表示一种委婉的请求或疑问。

(4)wonder后接动词不定式短语, 表示“感到惊奇;对······感到惊讶”。
