On a winter morning, I was giving a talk on a square on Filth Street. The wind was strong. There was an old man sitting in a chair in front of me. It seemed that he lost his legs. And I saw that when I told how Cookie, my dog, had saved my life, his eyes were filled with tears(泪水) and he nodded.
When the talk was over, I walked towards him. He excitedly shook my hand, "I had a dog like your Cookie. The dog saved my life, too."
"Oh, what a good dog!"
He nodded, "I lived in Greenwich Village and I had a dog that I raised and hunted with. When I took part in the Korean War(战争), I was hurt and lost the use of my legs. When I came back from the hospital, he was waiting. He spent the rest of his life by my side. I would be crazy without him. I could sit for hours and talk to him…"

If you visit Wuppertal, Germany, make sure you take the Schwebebahn. It's a railway that runs for 13 kilometres and carries over 80, 000 passengers(乘客)every day.
The Schwebebahn travels in a very different way. Its 24-metre-long train doesn't run on the track (轨道), but under it. The track is 12 metres above the river. So as the train goes over the city, passengers can enjoy the exciting sights freely.
The Schwebebahn didn't come easy. In the 1880s, the traffic in Wuppertal was so busy that the government had to develop a new way of travelling. At that time, a man named Eugen Langen was trying a railway under the track to carry products for his company. It was successful, so later Eugen put this idea into the Schwebebahn. In that way, the space above the River Wupper got fully used. It turned out to be a very good choice. The Schwebebahn gives special travel experiences to passengers. Is there anywhere more important than home We may have many homes during our lives but it is often the place we feel most safe. We use the word "home" in many English express ions(表达). Maybe that also makes it clear how important the home is to us.
If our homes are safe and happy, when we get back to them, we might say, " 41 "Just like Dorothy famously does in the movie The Wizard of Oz. This means there isn't anywhere else that is as good as home.
However, if we find ourselves somewhere that feels comfortable and homely, we could say we feel "at home." 42
We can also feel at home in a new job or feel at home with someone-meaning we feel comfortable with them.
Or as Elvis Presley sang, " 43 "This means that the place we feel at home may not be a building but a place that we love and where we feel loved, maybe where our family and friends are.
44 Scoring a home run in baseball is a very common one. But when a team, person or animal has finished something at last, we might say they are "home and dry". In Australia and New Zealand, people say "home and hosed." 45 It means the job is done and you have time for a shower---you're "hosed" and dry!
A. Home is where the heart is. B. There's no place like home. C. Home plays an important part in our life. D. Both expressions have the same meaning. E. Home is always the place we go and share our joy. F. This could be at school, another house or on holiday. G. There are also times that we use "home" expressions in sport.
