应用文
Dear Chris,
How is everything going I’m writing to share with you an exciting experience I had last Friday.
Our school held the textbook drama competition, and I participated in it with my classmates. We acted out a scene from William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. I played the role of Romeo, and it was a challenging but rewarding experience. We spent several weeks preparing for the competition, practicing our lines. On the day of the competition, we were all nervous but also excited to perform. Despite some nerves, I think we did a great job and received a lot of positive feedback from the audience. Participating in the competition was a great opportunity for me to improve my acting skills and confidence. It also allowed me to work with my classmates and develop our teamwork skills. I learned a lot from the competition, and I’m grateful for the experience. What have you been up to lately I hope you’re having a great time.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
读后续写
The man wrapped the scarf around his neck, instantly feeling a bit warmer. “Thank you. You are an angel,” he murmured, a glimmer of smile coming to his dry lips. He grabbed the scarf tightly, his eyes shining with tears. In that moment, Emma realized what she presented was not just a scarf but also a sign of hope. Inspired, she determined to bring that spark of hope to more people. An idea suddenly popped into her head that she could set up a knitting club to bring more warmth to those in need. Then Emma waved him goodbye and hurried to school, her heart light and warm.
Led by Emma, Knits for Hope Club was started in her school. Her classmates expressed their willingness to do their part. With the passage of time, the club grew in numbers and enthusiasm. By the end of winter, Knits for Hope had distributed more than two hundred hand-knitted items, warming numerous bodies and hearts. Through their needles, they had knitted a blanket of community, compassion, and warmth that enveloped everyone. Never did Emma realize the impact of her small gesture. It wasn’t about the scarves or hats; it was about weaving kindness into the fabric of society, showing that even the smallest acts can create the warmest changes.

(Text 1)
M: How do you learn Spanish Polly
W: My dad bought me a Spanish CD for my computer, but actually I prefer the textbook which has got lots of exercises, so I’m good at grammar. One day, I’d like to be able to understand the words to Spanish music!
(Text 2)
M: How do you suggest traveling around the island
W: Now the island is easy to get to by ship, and when you get there, you’ll find a local bus system there, so you don’t have to rent a car.
(Text 3)
W: Peter, what are you going to do after graduation It’d be nice to go traveling for a few months, wouldn’t it
M: Yes, but I did that before coming to university. Actually, I’m hoping to get on a management course. But I’ve got a job interview next week, for a bank. I think I ought to be getting on with real life.
(Text 4)
M: Good morning. Can I help you
W: Oh, yes. I left a bag when I was shopping. It’s black leather and quite new.
M: All right. I’ll look at my list.
(Text 5)
M: What did the weather forecast say on the radio
W: It’s going to be cloudy with a few showers tomorrow morning, but by lunch there will be clear skies and the bright weather will last well into the early evening.
(Text 6)
W: I’m going to order some office supplies, Clive. Do you need anything
M: Hmm, let me think. I need some more pens.
W: What color Red Blue
M: Oh, no. I’ve got enough red ones. But I’m short of black ones. I never seem to have any.
W: Really Have you looked in the drawer There are usually lots of pens in there.
M: Which drawer
W: The drawer in the desk next to the computer.
M: I thought they were kept in the cupboard at reception.
W: No, we moved them about six weeks ago. I’ll check it, and bring some to you.
M: Thanks.
(Text 7)
M: The tourism business is losing money, so we need to cut costs. What do you think we should do
W: The best way to save money is to make some staff reductions.
M: I don’t like that idea. It will make the remaining staff unhappy. They may become more unproductive.
W: I disagree. They may work harder. They will be worried about losing their jobs too.
M: I think we could stop supplying free snacks and coffee and stop the free gym membership.
W: I don’t think that will save us much money.
(Text 8)
W: Hi, everybody. This week we have the British film director John Grendal. Welcome to the show, John. M: Thanks.
W: Now, you’ve been in the US for the last five years. Is that right
M: Yeah. I came here when I was 28.
W: What made you choose to live in the States
M: Well, work really, I had a quite successful career in London, making TV commercials and short films, but I really wanted to get into feature films. Luckily some American directors saw my work and invited me over.
W: You’ve made three feature films here now. How does filmmaking here compare to Britain
M: It’s not that different, really. But there’s a lot more money involved. And I love the sunny weather here because it means we can do a lot of filming outside. That’s something new for me because it was always cloudy in England so we didn’t use to do much outdoors.
(Text 9)
M: Good afternoon, Mrs. Hargreaves. About my son Stephen’s report… Has he improved this year
W: I think overall, yes. Mind you, there is still room for improvement. Let’s see, the overall exam result was encouraging ---- sixty percent.
M: Yes, and history. I remember a bad report for this last year.
W: Well, he lacks concentration in the class and of course this makes it difficult to remember things like dates and names.
M: I’ll have a word with him. And music
W: Is he still having guitar lessons
M: Yes.
W: His music teacher has commented that he doesn’t take them seriously.
M: And I’ve noticed that he hasn’t been very interested in practicing at home.
W: And also he tends to talk a lot in class — and he only got forty percent. But, there has been considerable improvement in geography — seventy-four percent.
M: Yes, I remember him working at home a lot for a project about China.
W: Yes. And it was excellent. I saw it myself and was very impressed. And now French. It seems that he is really keen on speaking a foreign language! Eighty percent is a very good mark!
(Text 10)
Hello, my name is Franco and I’m a third-year university student. Today, I’m going to give you some guidance on choosing a university. When I first started looking at universities, like you, I was in my last year of high school. I thought my parents would focus on course fees or the accommodation that the university can offer you. But it was the location of the university that bothered them most. Then I revised my list after hearing their advice.
All universities hold open days. You get to meet various people, tutors and students of course, and you can ask any question you like. I found social program officers the most useful to know what it would be like to be a student here. So once you know which university to go, you must read the course introduction. More importantly, you have to study the unit guide to get the details. Think carefully about money. You need to add up the course fees and the cost of course materials. Then check out the cost of living of the city. OK. We still have time for questions.英语试卷
