“ Footprint” is a metaphor(比喻) for the total impact that something has. And “carbon” simply refers to all the different greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming.
The term “carbon footprint,” therefore, is
defined as a measure of the total amount of emissions(排放) of greenhouse gases directly and indirectly caused by human
activities. Your carbon footprint is a mark you leave upon the environment with every action that releases carbons. lt is an
indicator(指标) of unsustainable energy
use.
