四、阅读理解(36分)
A
A 14-year-old boy in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province, recently called the police to help solve the "problems" he was having with his father.
According to a video report on social media, the father put in a camera in the son’s room to "monitor(监视)" him. Asked why, the father said he was keeping an eye on the boy, who was crazy about computer games.
The video shows the police arriving and trying to mediate(调解)between the father and son. "What privacy (隐私) are you talking about, " the father asked. " Why cannot I monitor you?"
Although that sounds just like what a father might say to a son, it is not that simple.
Parents should protect their children, but they should respect the privacy of the children.
Many parents put cameras to monitor the safety of a baby or a very young child, but a 14-year-old boy is old enough to take care of himself and has the right to his privacy. A camera keeping an eye on him in his room is certainly not proper. The father's action is therefore unreasonable.
Spending a lot of time playing computer games is definitely a problem for students today, but monitoring them is not the right way. It will break the trust between children and parents.
A better way is to spend more time with them and play more outdoor games. In other words, parents need to trust their children and help them find things that are more interesting than computer games.
56.Why did the boy call the police for help?
A. Because he lost a lot of money at his own room. B. Because he was so crazy about computer games.
C. Because his father always beat him at home.
D. Because his father put in a camera to monitor him.

A. build the trust between him and his son. B. protect the safety of his son.

A. Put in a camera to monitor his children. B. Find interesting computer games for them.
C. Play more indoor activities with children.

59. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Parents should find a right way to build trust with their children.
B. Parents should find a proper way to monitor their children at home.
C. Parents should only monitor the safety of a baby but not a student.
D. Playing much computer games isn't a problem for students today.

What do you see when you look at abstract(抽象派的) art Does it make sense to you Does it look like anything Is it supposed to
Abstract art became popular in the early 20th century. Artists did not want to paint, draw, or sculpt things exactly like they looked. They didn’t want their art to be realistic. They were more interested in basic shapes and colours.
Picasso is probably the most famous of these artists. He painted and drew in many, many styles. Sometimes he used a lot of blue colours (his “blue period”). Later, he used more red and pink colours (his “rose period”). Many of his other paintings are called “cubist(立体画派)” because they are made of painted squares.
After a long time, Picasso’s paintings became more and more abstract. He painted people and things using strange shapes. His work was so original. Many of his fellow artists didn’t understand it.
Kandinsky, another famous artist, used lines, shapes, and patterns to paint his subjects. His paintings also used strong colours to express feelings.
Other artists, like the surrealists(超现实主义者), were interested in the subconscious(潜意识). Painters like Breton and Magritte used many symbols in their work. The meaning or subject of their work wasn’t always clear. Dali, another surrealistic artist, painted pictures that looked like dreams.
There are still many abstract artists around the world. It’s often hard to say exactly what their art is about. That’s the way many artists prefer. They want each person to look at art and find their own meaning in it.

Ludwig van Beethoven was one of the greatest composers of all time. He was born in 1770 in Bonn,Germany. When he was 4 years old,his father started teaching him to play the piano. Later,Beethoven took lessons from other teachers. He also learned to play the violin and the organ.
In 1787,when Beethoven was 17,he visited Vienna,Austria. There,he played for a famous musician named Mozart. Beethoven moved to Vienna in 1792 to study with another famous musician,Haydn. Beethoven lived in Vienna the rest of his life.
Beethoven played music that other people had written. But he also liked to improvise (即兴创作). Beethoven would ask someone to play a few notes on a piano. Then he'd sit down and play those same few notes and add more. Soon,he would create a whole new tune.
As a composer,Beethoven was a great talent. He liked to write,or compose, his own music. He heard music in his head. Then he wrote the songs down on paper. While writing,Beethoven played his songs on the piano to hear how they sounded. He would rewrite his music over and over. Finally,he would be pleased with his new music.
Around 1798,Beethoven started going deaf. At first,he had trouble hearing people talk. Later,he couldn't hear his own music. By 1820,Beethoven was totally deaf. Though he couldn't hear,Beethoven kept playing music. He even kept composing! When Beethoven composed,he "heard" the tunes in his mind. Then he wrote them down. How did Beethoven hear music in his head?Softly sing aloud a song you know well, like Mary Had a Little Lamb. As you sing, you can hear the song with your ears. Now silently sing the same song to yourself in your mind. Can you hear how it sounds inside your head?
Beethoven composed his most famous pieces of music after he was deaf. These pieces include Moonlight Sonata and his Symphony (交响乐) No.5 and Symphony No9.His works connected the classical age of Western music to the later romantic age.

At five, he took part in Shenyang Children Piano Contest and got/won the first place / won the first prize. Since then, he has been crazy about the piano. When he was nine, he went to Beijing to learn the piano.
He has many great achievements. He gives concerts all over the world every year. He has been presented with lots of international awards.
In my opinion,he is one of the greatest pianists in the 21st century. I enjoy myself in the world of music every time I listen to his works/ classical pieces .
