1. No way! 不可能;不行
这是英语口语中一个直接拒绝对方的表达用语,强调不赞同别人的观点,或根本没有可能按要求去做某事。
另外,英语口语中还常用There's no way… 这样的惯用表达,用以陈述某人无法做某事。
e.g. There’s no way I’m going to stay in a hotel for 800 yuan a night. That’s too expensive.
我根本无法去住800元一晚的宾馆,那对我来说太贵了。
2. Sixteen-year-olds should be allowed to get their ears pierced.
应该允许十六岁的孩子穿耳洞。
get sth. done 请某人做某事;使某事完成(自己也可能参与)
something与其后所接的done(过去分词)存在逻辑上的动宾关系
e.g. Go and get your hair cut. 去找人理一下头发。
= Go and get someone to cut your hair.

我认为十六岁的孩子不应该被允许开车。
sixteen-year-olds的含义相当于sixteen-year-old children。
数词+度量名词(+形容词)+名词的表达方式通常有以下几种构成方式:
一个三岁的女孩可以表达为:
a three-year-old girl a three years old girl
一部三个小时的电影可以表达为:
a three-hour movie a three hours movie
【注意】
“数词 + 连字符- + 度量名词 (+形容词)” 作定语修饰名词时, 这个度量名词只能用单数形式。

句中的enough用作副词,意为“足够地”,修饰形容词serious。
enough用作副词时,可以用来修饰形容词或副词,并且通常位于形容词或副词之后。

1. When I was a tiny baby crying all night, my mom sang to me and stayed by my side.

crying all night是动词-ing形式短语,在名词baby后作定语,起修饰名词的作用。
by用法小结:
靠近;在……旁边,如本单元中的by my side;

表示方式,如by bus,by letter及by doing等;

含有情态动词的被动语态
含有情态动词的被动语态的结构为:
情态动词+ be +及物动词的过去分词;
变为否定句时只需要在情态动词后加not
1. 将含有情态动词的主动语态变为被动语态的方法:
1) 将主动语态的宾语变成被动语态的主语;
2) 将“情态动词 + 动词原形”变成“情态动词 + be + 及物动词的过去分词”。
2. 含有情态动词的被动语态的句式结构:
1) 肯定式:主语 + 情态动词 + be + 及物动词的过去分词 + 其他。
2) 否定式:主语 + 情态动词 + not + be + 及物动词的过去分词 + 其他。
3) 疑问式:情态动词 + 主语 + be + 及物动词的过去分词 + 其他?
