Once there was a forest where all the animals lived happily together.
One day a family went to spend the day in the forest, and the son left his socks there. After the
family left, a bear came by, found the socks, and decided to try them on. They fit so well, and he
liked them so much that he wouldn't take them off.
All the animals talked about the bear's new look. Soon, in that forest, there began appearing
squirrels in shirts, rabbits in shoes, and even rats wearing hats! The forest doctor shook his head,
telling animals, "This can't be good. △ !" But no one listened to him. They said he was just out
of fashion.
However, it wasn't long before the first results of fashion-fever came. Several times the squirrel
caught his shirt on trees, stopping him in mid-jump and sending him falling to the ground from a tree.
The rat couldn't go into his hole without taking off his hat first. Even the bear, because of his socks,
slipped(滑倒)from the river rock and almost killed himself.
When the animals came to see the doctor, he gave them all the same advice, "Take off those
clothes before one day they are going to kill you." Those who listened to the doctor's advice stopped
having accidents. And the animals realized that they didn't need clothes at all. Starting to wear them
had been very dangerous, and they had only done it to make others admire them, and to get attention.

Imagine you are going to give a speech the next day.The night before, you spend a lot of time
thinking about the possible mistakes you might make and whether you're prepared enough. Well,
you might be overthinking.
Overthinking means going over the same thought again and again, analyzing(分析 ) the
simplest situations or events too much.
According to The Conversation, overthinking comes from one of our primitive instincts(原始
本能). The primitive mind will always see things in the worst possible light. Our brains are always
looking for threats(威胁), to make a plan to deal with those threats and keep us safe.
Some people believe that overthinking may be helpful because it helps us look at a problem
from every possible angle(角度) and get ready for what might happen. However, research suggests
that overthinking can make us stressed, anxious(焦虑的) and depressed (忧郁的).
What's more, overthinking might create problems with how you get along with others. As you
think the worst, make incorrect guesses, or worry about every little thing others do and say, you
might misunderstand their intentions(意图).
So, instead of sitting and thinking about a problem again and again, you can distract(转移注意
力)yourself for a bit. Your brain might find better ways to solve the problem while you're doing
something fun, like gardening(园艺), or even while you're sleeping.
Also, when you find yourself overthinking, challenge these thoughts. Ask yourself if they
make sense and think about other possibilities. It can be hard at first, but recognizing that you are
overthinking can help you make a change.

In 1921, long before the Walt Disney Company turned Pooh (维尼熊) into an international star
of TV and films, Christopher Robin Milne was given a toy bear on his first birthday from his father,
A. A. Milne, who bought the stuffed animal from a store. The stuffed animal was named Edward
Bear. Years later, Edward was named Winnie. From the time Christopher Robin Milne was a baby
until he was about 8 years old, he would receive different stuffed animals.
A. A. Milne was a famous English writer. As he watched his son interact (互动) with Winnie
and friends, A. A. Milne thought his child’s interaction with the collection of animals would make a
great bedtime story. So Milne worked with artist Ernest H. Shepard and wrote the first Winnie the
Pooh poem, where Edward Bear was known as “Teddy Bear”. The writings appeared in Punch
magazine and in the book they wrote together, When We Were Young, which was published in 1924.
In a four-year period, three more books that focused on the bear and his team followed: 1926’s
Winnie-the-Pooh, 1927’s Now We Are Six, and 1928’s The House at Pooh Corner.
The books and poems about Pooh brought great success to the writer, and the characters
became favorites with young children and their families around the world. Their popularity led
Disney to get the rights (版权) to make films about the characters in 1961. Five years later, Pooh,
Tiger, Piglet and the rest of the team appeared on screen for the first time in Winnie-the-Pooh and
the Honey Tree. The characters later appeared in TV shows, movies, video games and short films.
Pooh’s most recent appearance came last year in the popular children’s program, Doc McSiuffins,
where he was a special guest.

Have you ever tried to hide your emotions from someone during a conversation 36
Scientists from the Ohio State University have found that people are able to tell other people’ s
emotions according to the changes in the color of their faces.
Scientists studied pictures of people’ s facial expressions. 37 For example, happiness
makes our faces red around the checks and a little blue around the chin. Disgust(厌恶) creates not
only a blue-yellow color around the lips, but also a red-green color around the nose and forehead.“
We believe these color patterns are the result of small changes in blood flow triggered(触发) by the
central nervous(神经) system.” Lead researcher Alex Nartime said.
38 Does the color alone or also facial expressions help people tell others’ emotions
To figure this out, scientists added color patterns to pictures of faces that showed no facial
expressions. 39 They were able to tell the emotions 75 percent of the time without any
difficulty.
40 For example, when two people are heatedly arguing over something, we say they
are red in the face. When a person is very angry, we say he or she is blue in the face.
A. But this raises a question.
B. They found that every facial expression is connected to a certain color.
C. It’ s not always easy because the color on your face may tell the truth.
D. Then, volunteers were asked to tell what emotions the faces were showing.
E. This is why there are some Chinese sayings that connect emotions to the color of one’ s face.
