教学内容分析(The analysis of the teaching materials)
A.课文知识背景
本单元围绕Sports(体育运动) 这一主题开展听、说、读、写多种教学活动。在当今社会,体育运动受到越来越多人的青睐,已成为人们主要休闲、娱乐方式之一。原因有二:其一,有些人由于工作繁忙,无暇锻炼,使体育运动成为健康体魄的必须;其二,有许多人不满足平淡的生活,他们喜欢寻求刺激,使体育运动成为一种时尚。本单元是关于 The Olympic Games。这篇课文主要讲解了奥运的基本知识、发展史及几次奥运的情况。2008奥运在北京举行,201将在巴西举行奥运会,所以学习这篇课文有很强的现实意义。
B.教学重点难点:
(1).Know about the Olympics and talk about 2008 Olympic Games.
(2) Grammar (The future passive voice)
*Only athlete who have reached the agreed standard for their event will be admitted as competitors.
二、教学目标(Teaching aims and demands)
(一)。知识技能
A. Basic knowledge
(1)Words and phrases
compete, unusual, swift, athlete, motto, medal, prize, take part in, every four years, in modern times, all over the world, join in(some activity),
(2)Sentence structures:
*Many of the sports were the same as they are now.
(3) Grammar (The future passive voice)
*Only athlete who have reached the agreed standard for their event will be admitted as competitors.
B. Basic skills
(1)Using different reading techniques(such as ,Skimming and Scanning)to get the general idea of the whole text and that of each paragraph; Careful reading to find some specific information.
(2)Having a clear picture of the passage structure according to the key words and the clue .
(3)Talk about the topic Sports ,which the students are interested in; Develop the students’ ability of speaking English.
(二). 情感态度
(1)通过对本单元内容的学习,引导学生在体育运动中不仅锻炼身体而且培养自己
勇敢顽强的性格。
(2)学习奥运精神,并在今后的学习生活中具有竞争意识,树立强烈的爱国主义情感立志为祖国的利益而拼搏。
(3)通过开展小组活动,指导学生积极与人合作,相互学习,相互帮助,培养其团队精神。
(三).学习策略
(1)认知策略 在学习中能根据上下文猜测词义和推测段落大意;学会分析和归纳文章内容。
(2)调控策略 拓宽学英语的渠道,参与课堂上的活动积极思考,主动与老师同学交流体会,解决学习中遇到的困难。
(3)交际策略 充分利用采访、表演等真实交际活动提高用英语交际的能力,在其过程中能借助手势、表情等非语言手段提高交际效果,能克服语言障碍,维持交际。(4) 资源策略 通过计算机网络,图书馆广播和电视等资源获得广泛的英语信息,拓宽知识面。
(四).文化意识
体育是没有国界的。全世界爱好体育的人们,不分种族,民族,语言,肤色,宗教信仰聚集在一起,共享体育运动带给人们的快乐和幸福。通过学习这篇课文,增进同学们跨文化理解和跨文化交际的能力,培养学生的世界意识。

五、教学步骤(Teaching procedures)
Step 1.Revsion
Talk about their favourite sports, favourite sports stars, and the reason why they like them. (pair work)
Talk about the sports meeting .Q: Have you ever join the sports meeting ?Do you know sth about sports meeting ?
Sports meeting (school sports ,the National Games, the Asian Games, the Olympic Games, the World Cup etc)
It is a good chance to present new words. At the same time, I will present them as many pictures about sports as possible.
Purpose: This activity is designed to encourage students to think about sports and learn relevant vocabulary.
Step 2. Presentation
Introduce the Games.(See Slide 2~6)
Task 1. General knowledge How many kinds of the Olympics are there?
How often are the Games held? When and where were the first Games held ?
Task 2. The Olympic symbol
Task3. The sports
Collect the information Ss have found At the same time I will display some relevant pictures.

Step3. Reading (See Slide6~11)
Task 1.Listening
Skimming to find out what is the reading material going to talk about.
Scanning to find information about the Olympic Games. True or False
Purpose: to train Ss to glance through the passage quickly to get a general idea.
Task2.Reading
Read the passage carefully and say sth about the numbers. Answer the Questions
Divide the passage into some parts
Intensive reading, get the Ss to know the language points.
Make a further study on the key words and expressions. (the same as, in modern times, take part in)
Purpose: to have a better understanding of the passage and note some useful words and phrases.
Task3.Retelling
Say sth about the passage according to a passage with some words out.
Purpose: Know more about the passage, and practise their spoken English.
Step4.Consolidation
Task1. Play the passage through once and ask Ss to underline some words and phrases they think useful.
Task2. Explain ----of which 12 were won by women.(See Slide 12~13)

Task1. Discussion
Hosting the Olympic games is a great honour and a great responsibility. Since china has won the bidding of hosting the 2008 Olympics, what will the Olympics bring to China, good effects or bad effects.
Purpose: to have a further understanding about the Olympics.
Step6.Homework assignment
Finish WB Exx.
Write a report based on the discussion carried out in class. And encourage Ss to express their own idea in the report.
Purpose: to cultivate them how to write key points
课后总结:通过这一课的学习让我认识到除了教会学生学会课本知识,分析课文内容和结构外,还应在思想上给学生教育。针对现在学生怕苦怕累,意志力不坚强这一特点,在教这篇阅读课时我联系了2000年悉尼奥运会。在此次奥运会中国运动健儿奋力拼搏为国争光取得了辉煌的成绩。这些成功的背后包含着多少的艰辛和汗水,经历了多少失败和创伤,正如歌中唱得那样“不经历风雨怎么见彩虹?没有人能随随便便就成功。” 因此在学习语言知识的同时,同学们克服困难的信心和争取胜利的决心也增强了。
