Two years and three months ago, I lost one of the most important persons in my life. Never did I imagine that I would spend the rest of my life without one of my parents.
“I have cancer.” Those words rang in my ears every day. I was ten when I first heard those three words. I didn't understand what it meant, only knowing that he was sick.
For two years my dad was busy around four different hospitals. I wanted him to cheer me on at my soccer games, drive me to school and go to the beach with me. However, I saw his health become worse and worse.
His death had changed me so much. My life hadn't been the same as it used to be.
I was told that with time it would get better. But I realized that it was completely wrong. I always felt so lonely, upset, worried, angry, sad and scared. Luckily, my mother and friends stayed with me. When I talked about my father, they listened to me. When I cried, they comforted (安慰) me.
Gradually, I started getting out of sadness, going on a walk and finding pleasure in activities.Sometimes you have to suffer (遭受痛苦), but please go on. Being happy doesn't mean you are forgetting your loved ones. You live to make them proud. And please remember that you are never alone.

Curly Noodle is better known as just a dog to her friends. She has been trained to be a “World-famous Helper Dog”, providing comfort and calm for others who are going through life's difficult times.
Noodle is the main character in the children's novel Noodle Helps Gabriel Say Goodbye by Caryn Rivadeneira. In the book, Noodle tries to narrate her own story, telling readers that helping people is what she was born to do.
Noodle can tell people's thoughts. As a treatment dog, she moves from home to home to treat people. Having already left two families behind, she now lives with her new owner at a university. Noodle's newest case is about a young boy named Gabriel who doesn't cry over his grandfather's recent death. Gabriel's family is supportive, but the boy opens up only in front of Noodle. Noodle helps Gabriel deal with the loss of his grandfather, and to find that our loved ones can be found in the little things all around us, even when they're gone.
The book makes me think of Mr. Rogers. I've never been much of a Mr. Rogers fan. Maybe it was his over-the-top kindness that didn't seem realistic (现实的) to me. But I had a change of heart after reading Noodle Helps Gabriel Say Goodbye. I began to understand the empathy (同理心) that Fred Rogers had for others. It is called “emotional intelligence”, something very much overlooked (忽略) for years in classrooms.
I believe that this book would be a great addition to home and school libraries.

C.He is easily overlooked.
D.He is good at comforting others.

Mark frowned (皱眉头). His sister Trina was getting a lot of gifts for her first birthday. She got lots of attention. Grandparents were here for the party. They were around the baby taking pictures.
What about him No one cared what he was doing. “Fine!” he thought. “If no one cares, then I can do what I want.” He got up and broke a balloon (气球). POP!
“Mark, stop that,” Mom said quickly.
Grandpa took him to the kitchen. “Sit down,” he ordered, pointing to a chair.
Mark sat down and crossed his arms. He expected to get yelled at. Instead, Grandpa sat down next to him.

One Possible Version:
Winning the piano competition is something that made me happy. It was held on September 20th in City Music Hall. On that day, I saw many people there. I was so nervous. I was worried that I would make mistakes during my performance. Then I remembered what my father told me. He encouraged me to always believe in myself. He also said I was the best. His words made me feel much better. When it was my turn to play, I walked up to the piano with confidence and performed well. You wouldn't believe how much I wanted to know the result. When I knew I won the first prize, I hugged my parents in excitement.
This experience teaches me that it's very important to have confidence in myself. No matter what difficulties I meet, I must be full of confidence first.
