句中could 表示推测
例如:My mother could be very unpleasant at times. 我母亲有时候会让人非常不愉快。
have trouble (in)doing sth. 做…有困难

handwriting is very bad.我读这封信很费劲, 他的字很差。
拓展:have trouble with 有病痛, 因…苦恼
例如:She is having trouble with her teeth.她牙齿痛。
2. make sure表示“弄清楚;核实;确信”。make sure常用于祈使句,后面常接that宾语从句或of介词短语。Make sure that从句意为“弄明白;确信”。Make sure of +代词/名词,意思也是“弄明白;确信”。
例如:Make sure of his coming before you set off.
出发之前要确保他一定来。
I make sure (that) he would come. 我确信他会来。
3. That’s such good advice that you could be a doctor , Betty!贝蒂,这个建议非常好,你都可以当医生了。
such…that 如此…以至于, 连接一个表示结果的状语从句。
such…that的句型结构可分以下三种:
(1) such+a(an)+adj.+单数可数名词+that…clause
例如:He is such a clever boy that everybody likes him. 他非常聪明,大家都非常喜欢他。
2)such+adj.+复数可数名词+that…clause
例如:They are such interesting novels that I want to read them once again. 这些小说非常有趣,我想再读一遍。
3)such+adj.+不可数名词+that…clause
He has made such great progress that the teachers are pleased with him. 他进步得很快,老师们对他感到很满意。
注意:如果后边的名词前由many、much、few、little等词所修饰的话,则不用 such而用so。
例如: He had so many falls that he was black and blue all over. 他摔了很多跤,以致于全身上下青一块,紫一块的。
拓展: so…that如此…以至于, 这一结构中,so后边可加形容词或副词,其结构是:
so+ adj./adv.(+a/an +名词单数)+ that…clause.
so+ adj./adv.(+名词复数)+ that…clause.
例如:He runs so fast that nobody can catch up with him. 他跑得非常快没人能追上他

1. Earthquakes always happen suddenly, so it is
difficult to warn people about them. 地震总是突然发生的,所以很难警告人们关于他们。
warn sb. about sth. 提醒/警告某人注意某事
例如:To warn her about her dad.警告她关于她父亲的事。
拓展:warn sb. (not)to do sth. 告诫某人(不)要做某事
eg:His mother warned him not to go out in the evening. 他的母亲警告他晚上不要出去。
2. Keep calm , especially when you are with other
people.保持冷静尤其是当你和其他人一起的时候。
keep calm 意为“保持冷静”,是系动词+形容词构成的动词短语。其他的行为动词还能作系动词的有:be, become, get, feel, look, seem 等。
eg:He looks very happy.
拓展1 : keep doing sth. 坚持做某事
eg: He kept talking until the meeting was over.他一直在说,直到会议结束。
拓展2:keep sth. +形容词 把...保持在...状态
eg: This milk is for the baby, keep it warm. 这奶是喂孩子的,要注意保温
3. Leave the building quickly when the ground stops shaking. 当地面停止晃动时,立刻离开建筑物。
本句是含有when引导的一个时间状语从句,主句是祈使句。
stop doing sth. 停止做某事
stop to do sth. 停下(手头的事情)去做另外一件事
eg: Hearing the doorbell, she stopped washing the dishes.
Hearing the doorbell, she stopped to open the door.
4. Do not stand near street lights or under power lines.
不要站在街灯附近或电线下。
祈使句的否定形式:
主要是分三种情况的:
一、一般说来,祈使句的否定是在祈使句首加Don’t。如:(1) Come here. —Don’t come here. 不要来这儿。(2) Be angry. —Don’t be angry. 不要生气
二、let型当祈使句表示邀请或建议(Let’s…) 时,则在Let’s与 do之间加not。如:(1) Let’s talk about it. —Let’s not talk about it. 我们别谈论它吧。(2) Let’s go swimming there. —Let’s not go swimming there. 我们别去那里游泳吧。
三、无动词型无动词祈使句的否定:在无动词祈使句的句首加not。如:(1) Here — Not here. 不是这里。(2) Green —Not green. 不是绿色的。(3) This one — Not this one. 不是这个。

1. 情态动词must, can, could 表示推测
情态动词can, could 表示“能够,可以”等意义,can, could 还表示对现在或将来的推测。意为“会,可能”。
(1)can 表示推测时,往往用于否定句和疑问句。用于疑问句时,can 比could 表示的“可能性”要大;用于否定句时,can’t 表示“不可能”。
例如:You can’t be serious! 你不是认真的吧!
(2)could 则可用于肯定句、否定句和疑问句,表示某事有可能发生或可能是事实
例如: He could be in pain. 他可能很疼。
Can/Could this be true 这有可能是真的吗?
(3)情态动词must 也可以表示猜测,意思为“一定、准是”,通常只能用于肯定句。
例如:Betty, you must know! 贝蒂,你肯定知道!
辨析:
(1)Who sent the present Can it be your brother 是谁送来的礼物啊?会是你哥哥吗?(询问可能性)
(2)It must be your brother. 肯定是你哥哥。(语气强烈,表示非常肯定)
(3)It can’t be my brother. His still in France. 不可能是我哥哥,他还在法国。(表示不肯能)
2. 祈使句 表达说话人对对方的叮嘱、劝告、希望、禁止、建议、请求或命令等。祈使句一般以动词原形开头,无时态和数的变化。常见的句型如下:
1. 动词原形构成的祈使句
此类祈使句暗含的主语是you, 但通常省略。祈使句的句首或句末有时加please, 还可以加上称呼语,用逗号与句子主体隔开。例如:
Have a nice day!祝你度过美好的一天!
Come this way, please. 请走这边。
Please be quiet, boys! 男孩们,请安静!
Make sure he’s warm. 确保他不受凉。
祈使句否定形式往往在句首加上do not (don’t ) 或never。例如:
Don’t use the lift. 不要使用电梯。
Never be late again! 再也不要迟到了!
2. let’s 构成的祈使句
这类祈使句往往用于提出建议,例如:
Let’s spend this weekend in the countryside. 这周我们到乡下度周末吧。
祈使句否定形式是当祈使句表示邀请或建议(Let’s…) 时,则在Let’s与 do之间加not。
例如:Let’s not hurry. 我们不要太急。
3. 无动词祈使句
在请求、命令和口号中,常用无动词祈使句,它实际上是省略了动词,从而使祈使句更简洁有力。
例如:Just a minute, please! 请稍等!
This way, please! 请走这边!
祈使句否定形式是句首加not. 例如:Not there! 不是那儿!
