由that, if/whether 引导的宾语从句

宾语从句就是用一个句子来构成主句的宾语

容易产生歧义时用whether不用if来表示
“是否”。
如果宾语从句为否定句时，则只用if不用whether。

一般来说，在宾语从句中if与whether可以互换使用。在口语中常用if。但在特殊情况下，两者不能互换。只能用whether，不能用if引导的情况：
1) 与不定式连用
e.g. I don’t know whether to go to Beijing tomorrow.
2) 与(…)or not直接连用
e.g. I dont know whether or not they can get there on time.
3）在介词后，只能用whether

① the other指两个中的“另一个”，常与one构成固定搭配one…，the other…，意为“一个……另一个……”。
② another指三者或三者以上中的“另一个”。
③ others(＝ other＋复数名词)，泛指大部分中的一部分，意为“其他人；其他物”。
④ the others特指剩余的全部。
