学情分析 The objects of the lesson are students in Grade 8. Since they have learned English for a year and a half, they have a general comprehension of the language. Though their vocabulary may not be rich, they are eager to speak out in English.
教学目标 Language Competence Master the new words and expressions and know their meanings, like:have a cold, stomachache rest, cough, X—ray, toothache, headache, break, take breaks, take your temperature,What’s the matter He should lie down and rest.and so on. Use the target sentences to talk about health problems and give advice.
Cultural Consciousness 1.Be able to be aware of their health problem. 2. Encourage Ss to care more about their lifestyles and their family members’ health.
Thinking Quality Enable students to give others some right advice accordingly according to their problems.
Learning Ability Most students will be able to use the questions to get information to improve their listening and speaking abilities and train the students’ cooperation with their partners.
重点 1.To help Ss master the parts of the body, the names of the illness and the phrases of giving advice. 2.To enable Ss to talk about health problems by using “What’s the matter I have a…” and give advice by using “should”. 3.To help Ss find out the different ways to express the health problems, give appropriate advice and make a clear mind map.

Step1 Warming up Greet Ss. And set a scene T:Hello everyone, I'm an ordinary doctor.Like many doctors during the Spring Festival,we fight the virus together.We can also solve many health problems. Now I'm back to my job.Do you want to know about my work Let't watch a video and understand our body. Step2 Lead in Look at the girl and name the parts of body. Play a game and say out the body parts. Step3 Presentation New points input There was something wrong with Peter, Teacher use “What’ the matter with... ”ask Ss. to say out his health problems. Then present pictures and elicit Ss to give more different problems in English. Set a real situation Lead Ss. to talk about health problems and give proper advice. Chain drill A: What's the matter with...? B: He/She has a ... A: What should he/she do? B: He/She should... 4.Finish 1a. Step4 Listening Activity 1b (1)Get Ss to look at 1b and the picture on Page 1 and guess the illness before listening. (2)T plays the recording for the first time and number the names. (3)Guess the reason, listen again and match the reasons and the pictures. Activity 2a Pre-listening Let Ss to look at 2a and the picture on Page 2 and ask some questions to help them make a prediction before listening. Ss can write some phrases about the body problem under each picture. Then call Ss’ attention to the picture and ask the following questions: What is the matter with him/her The aim of the first is to lower the difficulties of the listening material and practice Yes-no question听对话第一遍先找出对应的基本信息,降低文本难度,熟悉一般疑问句。
While-listening Listen for the first time, number the pictures. T can give Ss the opportunities to show their answers with a whole sentence. The answers to 2a: 2,4,3,1,5. Then T asks the question: In Picture 1, she has a cough and sore throat, what should she do Encourage students to give different answers. One group reads the treatments in 2b together, make sure all the students know the meaning. Listen for the second time , ask some Ss to show their answers with a whole sentence. The answers to 2b: 1,d 2,a 3,b 4,c 5,e. Post—listening Show the 5 pictures on PPT, and give the phrases of treatment on the right, encourage Ss to give some other reasonable treatments . Make conversation with their partners. Step5 Role-play 1.Play the recording for Ss to listen and repeat. Read the conversation in roles between Mandy and Lisa. 2.Encourage Ss to read the conversation alone and find out the answers to the following questions: Q1: What’s the matter with Lisa Q2: What did Lisa do on the weekend Q3: What’s Mandy’s advice /What should Lisa do 3.Ask Ss to practice several times and ask some pairs to come to the front and act out their own conversations or role—play the conversation only. 4.Divide the Ss into 3 groups, recite the conversation in 1 minute.
