Step1 Review Play a game to review key words. Step2 Lead in T:What activities do you often do S:Play computer games, watch TV and listen to music. But, sometimes you have stress… Then, have a free talk with the students about after-school activities. T: What do you usually do after school S1: I usually do my homework. T:Do you have some after-school classes to take S2: Yes. T: What kind of classes do you have S3:I take …lessons. S4:I have…training. T:Do you love those after-school classes Do you get a lot of pressure from them? S1:Yes. S2:No. Now let’s see what these children say about the after-school classes. Step3 While reading 1.Scanning: Ask the students to read the passage in silence and finish the following tasks. Task 1: The topic of the text is: _____________ A. Life for Cathy Taylor’s three children is very busy. B. Competitions starts from very young. C. Children are very busy but they should learn to relax. Task 2: Look though each paragraph quickly and match the key words of the each paragraph. This step helps students understand the passage and the main idea of each paragraph. And guide the students to use the skimming skills, train the students’ reading ability. 2. Skimming Read again and answer the questions.
