Understand and master the new vocabulary correctly in the text and summarize the general idea of the text with the help of key words.
Cultural Consciousness Let students know about American country music and discover the appreciation of nature and praise of truth, goodness and the beauty of nature through reading activities; develop a positive attitude towards life.

Step 1. Lead-in. Have a free talk with the T to talk about their favorite kind of music. T: What kind of music do you like Why T: My favorite music is country music. Show one of the country music singers --- John Denver. Play a song sung by him --- Take Me Home, Country Roads. Have a self test to get to know some information about country music. Pre-reading. Ask Ss to observe the title and the picture and make a prediction. T: What is the passage about T: Is country music very important to her Tip 1: Make use of the title and the picture to predict the reading. Step 3. While-reading. 1. Reading for the main idea. Read the passage quickly and get the main idea of each paragraph. Para. 1 Sarah’s change. Para. 2 What’s country music. Para. 3 Sarah’s dream about music. Provide some main ideas to let Ss match them with the paragraphs by skimming the first sentences. Tip 2: The first or last sentence is usually the topic sentence. 2. Reading for detailed information.
