学情分析
教学目标 Language Competence Master new words and expressions: for the past few years, hundreds of, next to, run around, climb the hills, as long as I can remember. Important sentence patterns: ①I’ve been away for the past few years. ②Many families go there on weekends to let the kids run around and climb the hills. ③It’s been around for as long as I can remember. 2. Be able to talk about one’s hometown. 3. Consolidate the target language through some listening and speaking practice and improve students’ listening and speaking skills.
Cultural Consciousness Tell students to learn to deal with and make full use of their waste things, Thanks to the community to return society to care for others.
Thinking Quality Under the teacher’s guide, encourage students to talk about possessions and things by using present perfect tense with since and for freely and master the listening skills.
Learning Ability Through speaking and listening training, students can develop good learning habits and use strategies such as listening, memorizing and recording key information to improve learning efficiency. Also, keep interested in English.
重点 1. Grasp the new words, phrases and sentences. 2. Learn to use the target sentence pattern and improve listening and speaking abilities.
难点 Talk about hometown’s changes. Improve listening and speaking skills through listening and speaking training.

Step 1. Warm up. Play “Take Me Home, Country Roads”. T: What is the song mainly about Show some pictures of things around people and ask Ss to talk about them in pairs. Step 2. Pre-listening. Learn and let students recognize some words about places in our city. T: What can you see Which places are they Play a puzzle game. Find out the words about places in the box. Check the places or things they can find in our city in 1a. Then report their answers. T: Can you find words from it Ask Ss to give a simple description about their hometown. Some questions are provided for them: Q1.Where do you live Q2.What is your town or city like Q3.Which is the most unforgettable place in your hometown Step 3. While-listening. Listening for main idea. Ask Ss to listen to the recording carefully in order to find out the main idea of the conversation. When checking answers, encourage them to talk about the reasons. T: Does Martin like Jenny’s hometown T: Does Jenny still live in her hometown T: What is behind the science museum What do people do there on weekends Listening for detailed information. For the third and fourth time, listen again and fill in the chart about the places in Jenny’s hometown. Ask Ss to listen again and finish 1c. While checking answers, encourage Ss to talk about the places in Jenny’s hometown with the present perfect tense. Step 4. Post-listening. Filling in the blanks. Provide part of a passage about Jenny’s hometown to let Ss finish it according to the conversation. Pair work. Work in pairs and make a conversation to talk about their city or hometown. Walk around the classroom and offer help if necessary. Then invite some pairs to show in class. Survey and report. Do a survey in groups, write down their survey results in the chart and then report the chart. Provide the questions and chart to help Ss do a survey and make a report. Step 5. Conclusion. Have a summary of what we have learned with the help of T. Do some exercises. Explain some language points. T: East, west, home is the best!
