Step 1. Lead-in. Play a video about “Rural revitalization policy”. T: The government has carried out a new policy --- Rural revitalization policy. Ss: New roads / new schools / new hospitals / new houses /... T: What is the countryside like due to Rural Vitalization Ss: The roads have become wider and cleaner. Step 2. Pre-reading. Have a free talk with students. T: Why do millions of Chinese leave the countryside every year T: How often do these people return to their hometowns T: Why do people return to their hometowns T: What are hometown feelings Step 3. While-reading. 1. Skimming. Ask Ss to look through the beginning and ending of each paragraph and try to find out the main idea. Scanning. T: What kind of feelings does each part tell us Careful reading. Read Para. 1 and answer the questions to learn about Zhong Wei’s situation. Q1: How old is he Q2: How long has he lived in Wenzhou Q3: Where does he work Q4: How long hasn’t he been back home Q5: Why is he full of shame Read Para. 2&3, look for different kinds of foods in Singapore, and make a judgement.
