China’s Chen Yuxi and Quan Hongchan are the closest of partners in daily life. Quan and Chen became famous in China after their performance at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, when Quan won the women’s 10m platform gold and Chen won the silver.
Lately 16-year-old Olympic champion Quan Hongchan attracted lots of attention in her first Asian Games held in Hangzhou, 2023. She’s made history in the women’s 10-meter platform diving event.
Quan was born in the city of Zhanjiang, in the south of Guangdong Province, and started diving at the age of seven. In 2018, she joined the Guangdong Diving Team, spending three years there before breaking into the national team at the end of 2020. He Weiyi, a diving coach at the Guangdong Provincial Sports Team said, “Up on the 10-meter platform, it was where Quan showed her talent. It looks high up here, but believe it or not, in just three years’ time, Quan could manage some very difficult sets of movements. Her development was much quicker than most athletes. I’d say she’s got outstanding talent.”
But talent alone doesn’t always make sure of success. For Quan, hard work has been the key to success. But in Quan’s eyes, Chen is the more hardworking one of the two. “She always tries her best at training and competition. I’m not as hardworking as she is,” Quan added.
“Quan is actually a very easygoing person. She is always the funniest one in our team. She always carries a smile, and she is the reason why our team always has such a great atmosphere.” said 18-year-old Chen, a teammate, during an exclusive (独家的) interview with China Daily.

It was also a bit shy and just wanted to lie alone. Still, when I took out a tennis ball to play, it really enjoyed it. All in all, volunteering for the animal center is helpful for both the workers and the dogs. I really enjoyed my time there. You could try volunteering at an animal center, too.

The Duku Highway is really a great place for people who love nature. However, when you enjoy the view, do remember those soldiers who built the road for 10 years, and 168 of them lost their lives for it. Therefore, this road is also known as “The Road of Heroes”.
