核心素养与思政渗透 本课时围绕两个核心——礼貌语言(language hospitality)和不同场合得体语言的使用(language appropriacy)。基于语篇语境,引导学生继续学习礼貌语言结构,在学习语言的同时提升学生使用语言的礼貌意识和得体性意识,并使其较深刻地意识和体会到得体、礼貌地用好所学外语和自己对该语言运用群体的习俗及文化了解有直接关系,从而激发学生的求知欲和好奇心。通过阅读提高学生的综合语言运用能力。
课标分析 新课标要求九年级学生能积累日常生活中常用的习惯用语和交流信息的基本表达方式;能在读的过程中,围绕语篇内容记录重点信息,整体理解和简要概括主要内容;了解不同国家人们待人接物的基本礼仪、礼貌和交际方式; 能初步了解英语的语用特征,选择恰当的交际策略;初步具备用所学英语进行跨文化沟通与交流的能力;能辨识语篇中的衔接手段,判断句子之间、段落之间的逻辑关系;能提取、整理、概括稍长语篇的关键信息、主要内容、思想和观点,判断各种信息的异同和关联;能在学习过程中积极思考,主动探究,发现并尝试使用多种策略解决语言学习中的问题,积极进行拓展性运用。
教学目标 语言能力 能够在讨论“这样说合适吗?”的主题语境中,正确理解和掌握课文中的新词汇,增加词汇量;正确理解和学习在合适的场合中和说话对象前使用英语中的礼貌语言结构;恰当运用略读、跳读等阅读策略,提高阅读理解水平;
文化意识 能够增强使用语言的礼貌意识和得体性意识,并较深刻地体会到语言的得体性与使用者的身份、性别、年龄、熟悉及亲密程度等诸多因素有关,不是所有时候语言愈礼貌就愈合适;

教材内容分析 本课是一节阅读课,在前面学习的基础上,进一步介绍礼貌语言结构;在文化及策略方面,明确提出语言使用的得体性与文化知识(常识)密切相关;情感态度上,侧重对学生在不同场合用词的礼貌性及得体性进行训练和教育。教师应注意利用时机告知学生语言运用的得体性,提升其依据场合得体运用语言的意识。
重点 本课文中所涉及到的与礼貌得体使用语言话题相关的新词汇和表达;略读、跳读等阅读策略的训练;
难点 真正能够做到在合适的场合和相应的说话对象面前选择使用英语中的礼貌语言结构;
学情分析 通过两年多的英语学习,学生已积累了部分礼貌用语和委婉表达,但对于运用的场合和对象还存在疑惑;在英语阅读技能的培养方面,多数学生已具备对简单语篇文本进行整体理解和提取细节信息的能力,但一部分学生还不能熟练运用适当的阅读策略准确获取所需信息。鉴于此,本节课将以简单的话题入手,基于教师示范,进行篇章的阅读训练,为学生搭建脚手架,让学生乐于思考和实践。

Step 1. Lead-in. Watch a video and learn about what the countryside like because of the new policy. Ss: Sorry. I can't help you. Step 2. Pre-reading. Look at the two pictures in 2b and read the conversations. Sa: The first one is polite and long. Sb: The second one is not polite. Step 3. While-reading. 1. Fast reading. Read the passage quickly and underline the topic sentence of each paragraph. One minute later, report their answers in class. With T’s help, analyze the structure of the passage with the topic sentences. Careful reading. Read Para. 1 carefully and answer the questions. Sa: Both are correct, but the first one sounds less polite. Sb: Because we also need to learn how to be polite when we ask for help. Read Para.2 carefully and answer the questions. Sa: Good speakers can change the way they speak in different situations. Sb: That depends on whom they are speaking to or how well they know each other. Match the questions with correct situations. Read the requests in 2d and make judgments about the persons and places. Ss: Usually polite questions are longer. Read Para. 3 and tell T or F. While checking answers, explain their reasons. In 2c, find the direct questions and polite requests from the passage. Read Para. 4 and answer the questions. Sa: It is important to learn how to use the right language in different situations. Sb: This will help you communicate better with other people. Step 4. Post-reading. Try to finish the mind-map given by T and retell the passage according to it in groups and then in class. Step 5. Summary. Have a summary of the useful expressions of this lesson. Create a situation of a computer game and guide Ss to review the useful expressions.
