2024-2025学年高一英语人教版必修二单元测试:Unit 1 Cultural Heritage
一、阅读理解
Local officials in Beijing promised to further protect the city's cultural heritage, in particular the narrow streets known as hutongs.
Hutongs are commonly found in the cities of North China, but they are at risk. Beijing is currently believed to have fewer than 1,000 hutongs, most of which are near the Imperial Palace. Only 60 years ago, the number was 3,250. In the old districts of Dongcheng and Xicheng, which cover 62 square kilometers, some people will be asked to move out from hutong houses to avoid further damage to the ancient architecture.
"On average more than 100,000 people visit the Imperial Palace during the National Day holiday. The visitors put pressure on the protection of cultural relics," said Huang Yan, director of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Urban Planning, adding that hutongs should be protected from human damage.
The government focused on how the protection plans were carried out and how the management of the cultural heritage worked. Wang Shaofeng, head of the Xicheng district government, said the area has 182 cultural relics, many of which were built as far back as the Yuan Dynasty (1271—1368). The district of Xicheng has 1.28 million residents in its 57 square kilometers of land. "The most efficient way is to decrease the local population to reduce the possibility of causing harm to the heritage," Wang said.
"Each community has been required to report the status of its cultural heritage, especially hutongs, and any action that will damage the heritage will be punished," Wang said.
No one knows for sure how many hutongs will be left in the coming 100 years.
1.How many hutongs have disappeared in the past sixty years in Beijing
A.Less than 1,000. B.About 2,000. C.More than 3,000. D.Over 4,000.
2.According to Huang Yan, what is the main cause of the damage to cultural relics
A.Visitors' activities. B.Residents'attitude.
C.Communities' behaviour. D.The government's policy.
3.Which of the following is a useful way to protect hutongs
A.To attract more visitors.
B.To punish anyone damaging them.
C.To increase the local population.
D.To forbid everyone getting close to them.
4.What will happen to hutongs in the near future
A.Only time will tell. B.No one will remember them.
C.The number will be growing. D.Hutongs will disappear completely.

参考答案
1.答案:B

2.答案:A
解析:推理判断题。根据第三段中的“The visitors put pressure on the protection of cultural relics”和“hutongs should be protected from human damage”可知,黄艳认为游客给文化遗迹的保护施加了很大的压力,胡同应该被保护起来,不让人破坏,所以黄艳认为对文化遗迹的破坏的主要原因是游客的行为。故选A。
3.答案:B
解析:推理判断题。根据第五段中的“any action that will damage the heritage will be punished”可知,破坏遗产的任何行为都将受到惩罚,所以惩罚破坏胡同的人是保护胡同的一种有用的方法。故选B。
4.答案:A

②空前的"Although tai chi is an ancient martial art, it is still quite popular today"表明虽然太极是一种古老的武术,但它现在仍然很受欢迎,空处位于段尾,应承接上文内容。E项"它在一百五十多个国家拥有超过1亿的粉丝"切题,故选E。
③根据下文中的"You can practise it almost anytime and anywhere without equipment"可知,人们在没有设备的情况下几乎可以随时随地练习太极拳,同时结合空前内容可知,A项"这意味着很多人都能做到"切题,故选A。
④空后的"You can control them better. Slow movements also allow you to take deep, long breaths. This is good for your bodies"说明太极拳缓慢的动作对身体有好处。空处位于段首,总领并引出下文。G项中的"slow movements"对应下文中的Slow movements,空后的them指的就是"your hands and feet",故选G项"在缓慢的动作中,你可以将注意力集中在你的手和脚上"。
⑤根据空前的"But the benefits of tai chi go beyond the physical side"以及空后的"Tai chi has taught them the value of living more slowly"可知,太极拳不仅是一项运动,它还教会人们放慢生活节奏,F项承上启下,符合语境。

一、阅读理解
My mom and my grandpa have been making jam(果酱B.C.ery summer for more than 20 years. The jam is sweet, made from local Okanagan fruit. Not only is it delicious but it also helps me remember my childhood. As kids, we traveled to Salmon Arm, B.C., every summer to spend it with my grandpa and grandma. Only breaking to sleep and eat, they would show up two days later tired, sometimes covered with burns, and proud faces. Although at that time I couldn't tell you how the jam was made, I knew that each jar(瓶)was made with love and care. They never sold the jam at any local markets; they kept some for themselves and the rest was given away to friends and family.

Now in my mid-30s, my brother, sister and I have our own children to bring to Salmon Arm every summer, it only for a few days. Much has changed but one thing that has not is the jam. Mom and Grandpa disappear for a couple of days to make it. I feel joy watching my mom and grandpa share this time together. It's a tradition that one day my mom will carry forward with me, and many years from now, I will carry forward with my daughter.

一、阅读理解
From time to time, Ding Peng makes his way across the waves to Zhongtiedun, an island in Zhejiang Province. He has made a point of coming back to visit it to greet and observe the Chinese crested terns(中华凤头燕鸥) over the past ten years.
The medium-sized bird is 30 -40 centimeters long, with gray wings and a white body. It was first discovered in Indonesia by Heinrich Bernstein in 1861. It has since been sighted only in small numbers around the world. The birds were spotted in 1937 on islands around Qingdao, Shandong Province, and it was not until 2000 that a bird photographer spotted them on the Matsu Islands off the coast of Fujian Province, which immediately caused a storm in international ornithology (鸟类学) circles for researchers assumed that the birds had already died out.
Born in Lanzhou, Gansu Province, Ding grew up seeing barren (贫瘠的) mountains and sandstorms, and had an awareness of environmental protection at an early age. That was why, after graduating from university in 2012, he readily took a job offer from the Jiushan Islands National Nature Reserve in Zhejiang. "I love the sea and my major could be of some use in protecting it," he says.
Looking back at his life on the islands, Ding admits that it was very tough. There was no electricity to charge mobile phones and no air conditioner during the hot summer, and drinking water was sent in by supply ships. The worst was the loneliness, though things took a turn for the better in 2017, when more volunteers came to join the bird protection team.
Ding's contributions were recognized by the local authorities of Ningbo this year, who named him one of the city's "most beautiful people". "Everything was worth it, now that more people are aware of the importance of protecting the birds, and now that the number of the birds is on the rise," Ding says.
1.Why did the researchers feel surprised when the Chinese crested terns were found in 2000
A. The event made them ashamed.
B. They were unable to catch them.
C. They thought the birds were extinct.
D. They were spotted by a photographer instead of them.
2.What was the main reason why Ding decided to take the job offer
A. His major. B. A good salary.
C. The beautiful scenery. D. His life experience in his hometown.
3.How was Ding's life on the islands

二、七选五
5.Where Do Mosquitoes(蚊子)Go in Winter
Why do mosquitoes, everywhere in warmer months, disappear completely in winter?① Mosquitoes are cold blooded insects, meaning that they don't like the cold and prefer temperatures that are 80 degrees Fahrenheit (华氏温度) or more. When the temperature drops, they actually lose their ability to fly and become motionless.
②______ They would never be able to fly far enough. The actual answer to the question is different for male and female mosquitoes. Male mosquitoes They die. But that's not just because of the cold. Male mosquitoes have far shorter lifespans(寿命) than females, and they die in autumn.
Female mosquitoes, though, can live through the winter. They hibernate (冬眠). In autumn, the females will go into hollow logs or cracks in the ground and enter this still state.③______They put off their development, typically for months.
When it warms up again, the females will come out from hibernation. At this point, they're getting ready to lay their eggs and they need as much blood as possible to help the eggs develop. The females must find a blood meal to provide the protein needed by their eggs to develop, just in the time, when humans are outdoors in short sleeves enjoying the warming weather.④______
It actually doesn't have to be what we humans would consider “cold” to put a mosquito in danger. While these pests live actively when it's around 80 degrees F, most species can start heading into hibernation when it drops to around 50.⑤______This is when female mosquitoes start looking for a place for sleep.
A. The obvious answer is that it's cold.
B. Now it's time for male mosquitoes to wake up.
C. It's only the female mosquitoes that are biting you.
D. Unlike birds, mosquitoes don't fly south for the winter.
E. Anything below 50 degrees is already too cold for most mosquitoes.
F. They carry on with life only when there is enough water for their needs.
G. They can hibernate for up to six months in freezing or waterless conditions.

7.阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。
The famous classical pianist, Kong Xiangdong, surprised his fans last week by giving a concert combining classical music with Chinese folk music. Kong explained that he tried this because he wanted to create something new. "As a musician, playing the same music in different cities of the world is very boring," says Kong. He also feels that playing Chinese folk music on the piano can help bring it to the rest of the world.
Music has always been part of Kong's world. As his mother was a great music lover, he lived with music from birth. But it wasn't always easy for the young Kong Xiangdong. His mother couldn't buy him a piano until he was seven. She had to draw piano keys on a piece of paper so that he could learn to play as early as possible. The 5-year-old Kong would practice on the paper piano as his mother clapped the rhythm. He was made to practice the piano so much that, at times, he thought about giving up. However, he didn't quit, and he became a great pianist. In 1986, at the age of 18, he became the youngest prize winner in Moscow's Tchaikovsky International Music Competition. He went on to win awards in competitions across the world.
Because of Kong's talent and hard work, he became famous worldwide. But after years of performing, he felt that in some ways he had lost his identity. That was why he went back to his roots and rediscovered the beauty of Chinese folk music. He began experimenting with different styles and his Dream Tour Concert was the result.
Kong's new experiment in Chinese folk music was so important to him that he even changed his appearance. Before he arrived at his concert last week, he had shaved off all his hair! Since his music style was new, he decided his hairstyle had to be new too!
Whether Kong is changing his appearance or transforming his music, he is a pioneer in music today. The concert last week was such a success that Kong's Dream Tour Concert is expected to run for the next two years in Beijing, Shanghai, and other main cities before going to Paris and New York.

1.答案:C

2.答案:A
解析:细节理解题。根据第三段第四句“To China, Mr. Fu's recognition in a well-known international competition was evidence that the country could stand on its own artistically in the West.”可知,傅聪被全球认可对中国意义重大是因为这为中国艺术在西方赢得了一席之地。故选A。
3.答案:A
故选A。
4.答案:B
解析:推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“First you must be a person, then an artist, and then a musician, and only then can you be a pianist”可知,首先你必须成为一个人,然后是艺术家,然后是音乐家,只有那时你才能成为钢琴家,由此判断,成为一个钢琴家需要各方面的品质。故选B。

一、阅读理解
In 2012, an iPhone fell into my hands. This smart technology seemed like the entrance to only fun and positive things like chatting with friends and blogging.
However, many years later, I became limited to it. Recent reports show that I'm not alone. According to a study, an average American spends five hours a day on smart devices (装置) and about2.5 of these hours are spent on messaging, social media and entertainment apps.
It's hard to explain when the love and joy I felt for my iPhone turned into dependency. I fell asleep to my phone every night and woke to it each morning. I checked the weather app every morning before I chose how to dress for the day. I used it to help me find my way through a city. I checked my email box every time I picked my phone up.
Just like with any addiction, my phone dependency began to influence my life. While spending time with family, I'd stare at a small screen on my lap instead of being involved in communicating with my loved ones. At work, my productivity levels dropped. And then, my four-year relationship came to an end. Eventually, I was left with years of memories and a mobile phone that couldn't provide enjoyable company across a dinner table and share in the joys of experiencing a concert.
Now, I move through life with more goals and intention. I've cut back on my time and attention to my phone. Instead, I focus my efforts on being as present as possible. Truly training the mind to stay present is a long and challenging road, but it's important to start somewhere.
I hope you'll take a deep look at your own phone habits and reevaluate (再度评价) how important a role you are letting it play in your life. Whether or not you've reached a place in your life where your screen time is problematic, there's no harm in carefully giving your current practices some thought.

一、阅读理解
Whether it is for a special festival, to express thanks or to just let someone know that you care about him or her, giving gifts is a common custom. The purpose of giving gifts may be similar, but the tradition varies from country to country. A gift of respect in one place may be considered rude in another. Take a look at three unique gift-giving traditions.
If you're invited to someone's home in India, you should bring a small gift, whether it's a box of chocolates or some flowers. Gifts shouldn't be wrapped(包裹)in black or white colors because they are considered unlucky. Instead, use bright colors such as green, red or yellow. When giving money for any occasion, it should have an odd number(奇数) value. That's believed to bring good luck. Instead of receiving a gift with both hands, Indians generally only use their right hands because left hands are considered unclean.
For most Japanese, the ritual (礼节) of giving presents is more important than the gifts themselves. The correct way is to present or receive gifts with both hands. Every gift should be wrapped. That's because uncovered gifts are considered disrespectful. To show politeness and thanks, those who are receiving the gift may turn it down once or twice before finally accepting it. Gifts should be given in pairs, but four should be avoided just like in China. Lucky numbers also include eight. Eight is said to bring prosperity.
While it may be common for guests to prepare gifts for hosts, this is different in Native American communities. From weddings to birthday celebrations, guests are the ones who receive gifts. Gifts are usually homemade arts and crafts that are made by hand to show love, respect and appreciation.
1.What kind of gift would you bring to an Indian home
A.Some chocolates in a green box.
B.Flowers wrapped in black paper.
C.Sixty dollars in a yellow envelope.
D.Seventy-five rupees wrapped in white paper.
2.Why don't Japanese accept a gift at once
A.To get another better gift. B.To be polite and thankful.
C.To refuse one's kindness. D.To be outgoing and active.
3.What is the purpose of the text
A.To list some attractive festivals. B.To compare some countries.
C.To recommend some formal gifts. D.To introduce some gift-giving traditions.
