课程实施 Explain the words:1. attend 1. 表示“参加”、“出席”,通常用作及物动词,其宾语通常是meeting, party, show, wedding, class, lecture, school, church等(以及具有“活动”意义名词)。Did you attend the meeting yesterday 你昨天去开会了吗 He was ill and didn’t attend school. 他有病,没有去上学。有时 attend 后的宾语可以省略,此时为不及物动词。如:They had a quiet wedding --- only a few friends attended (it). 他们的婚礼静悄悄的,只有几个朋友参加。2. 表示医生或护士等的“治疗”、“护理”、“照顾”等,可用作及物或不及物动词;用作不及动词时其后通常接介词 on(若省略,即为及物)。如:Which doctor is attending you 哪个医生在给你治疗 有时也与介词 to 连用(见以下有关用法)。3. 用于短语 attend to, 主要用来表示。如:①注意听。如:Attend carefully (to what he’s saying). 注意听(他讲的话)。②处理;办理。如:I’ll attend to it. 这事我来办。2. make yourself at home 请别客气;随便点make yourself at home 是(无拘束) 的意思 指不用客气,当在自己家一样,
help yourself 就是 请随便用 ... 的意思,是指具体的事物。比如你想喝杯咖啡,你自己去倒好了,不用客气。3. regard 1)n. 关心, 注意, 尊敬, 尊重, 致意, 问候, 关系2)vt. 看待, 当作, 重视, 尊敬, 关系针对consider,其用法总结如下:1. regard作动词时,永远是vt., 所以后面直接接n. regard + n. 尊重……, 涉及到…… regard n.(A) as n.(B) 把A看作B A be regarded as B A被看作B2. regard 作名词,表“问候” Give one’s regards to sb. =give my best wishes to sb.= give one’s love to sb.1. (交通工具)衔接,联运[(+with)]下列情况,通常用介词 with。如:(1) 表示关系方面的“联系时:He’s connected with our school. 他与我们学校有联系。He is connected with the Smiths. 他与史密斯家有姻亲。 (2) 表示汽车、火车、飞机等交通方面的“相通”、“衔接”时:This early bus from the village connects with the 8:30 train. 这辆从村里开来的早班车与8:30的火车衔接。11. inspiring adj. 鼓舞人心的 vt. inspire的变形例句: His speech inspired the soldiers. 他的演说使士兵们大受鼓舞。to inspire somebody with courage使某人鼓起勇气变形: inspired, inspiringinspiring的用法例句We will share with you his inspiring and powerful success skills! 我们将与你分享他鼓舞人心的,强有力的成功技巧!12. in contrast 相反1.by contrast 对比起来,相比之下。 例句:By contrast, Mary is much diligent than Tom. 2.in contrast 与此相反,相比之下 常用短语in contrast with/to和……形成对比,比较起来,后面接名词。 eg: In contrast with her sister, she is very tall. 与姐姐相比, 她个子很高.13.conflict n. 冲突; 战斗; 相互干扰; 矛盾 vi. 抵触; 争斗; 战斗; 冲突 eg: He's looking for a way out from this conflict. 他正在想办法摆脱这一纷争。 短语: in conflict 有矛盾,不一致 conflict with 与…冲突,与…矛盾 no conflict 无抵触 in conflict with 和...冲突 14. jealous adj. 嫉妒的 be jealous of 嫉妒,对…吃醋 make sb jealous 使…嫉妒 eg: 1. We should not be jealous of other people's success. 我们不应该嫉妒他人的成功.2. Friends should trust each and not be jealous of each other. 朋友之间应该互相信任,不能互相疑忌.15.worthwhileworth, worthy, worthwhile 这三个词均可表示“值得的”,由于它们词形相近,意义相似, 它们的用法区别如下:一、从句法功能上看一、从句法功能上看worth 通常只用作表语,不用于名词前作定语;worthy 和 worthwhile 可用作表语和定语。如:It isn’t worth the trouble. 不值得费那个事。He is a worthy gentleman. 他是位值得尊敬的绅士。They achieved a very worthwhile result. 他们取得了很有价值的成果。 二、从所使用的修饰语来看worth 习惯上不用 very 修饰(要表示类似意思可用 well),而 worthy 和 worthwhile 则可以用副词very修饰。如: Nursing is a very worthwhile career. 护理工作是很值得干的职业。三、从搭配习惯来看1. 有关 be worth 的搭配习惯(1) be worth后可直接跟名词、代词或动名词。如:The picture is worth $ 500. 这幅画值500 美元。The clock is hardly worth repairing. 这台钟简直不值得修理。注意:其后可接动名词,不能接不定式,且接动名词时,总是用主动形式表示被动意义。(2) 在现代英语中,在be worth前使用形式主语it被认为是合习惯的。如:It isn’t worth repairing the car. 这辆汽车不值得修了。Is it worth visiting the city 这个城市值得去看吗 但是,若不用形式主语it而直接用动名词作主语则是错误的,如:误:Repairing the car is worth. 2. 有关 be worthy 的搭配习惯。(1) be worthy 后不能直接跟名词、代词或动名词,若要接,应借助介词 of。如:Their efforts are worthy of your support. 他们的努力应得到你的支持。 Her behavior is worthy of praise. 她的行为是值得赞扬的。(2) 与be worth后只接动名词不接不定式不同,be worthy后不接动名词,而接不定式(若该不定式要表示被动意义,则应用被动形式)。如:He is worthy to receive such honor. 他应该得到这种荣誉。This suggestion is worthy to be considered. 这个建议值得考虑。(3) 若要在be worthy后接动名词,与后接名词时的情形一样,应借助介词of,且该动名词若要表示被动意义,要用被动形式。如:He is worthy of filling [=to fill] the post. 这个职位他当之无愧。This suggestion is worthy of being considered [=to be considered]. 这个建议值得考虑。3. 有关 be worthwhile 的搭配习惯的搭配习惯(1) be worthwhile 后接动名词或不定式均可。如:It is worthwhile buying the dictionary. 这本词典值得买。(其中的 worthwhile 也可换成 worth)It is worthwhile to discuss the plan again. 这个计划值得再讨论一次。worthwhile 不能换成 worth,因为其后接用了不定式)(2) 有时可将worthwhile分开写,此时也可在其中加上one’s。如:
I’d think it worth while to go. 我认为值得去。16. religion n.宗教 –religious adj. 宗教的17.equality n.平等 ---equal adj. 平等的1. equal用作形容词,表示“相同的”“相等的”等。如: They are of equal height. 他们一样高。 用于be equal to 表示“等于”“能胜任”“能应付”等,其中的 to 是介词(其后接动词时应用动名词)。 如: This is equal to saying that he knows her well. 这就等于说他很熟悉她。 有时可用其他连系动词代替 be。 如: She didn’t feel equal to receiving visitors. 她感到身体不适,不能会客。 2. equal用作动词,意为“等于”“比得上”等,是及物动词,不要受其形容词用法的影响,在其后加介词 to。如: No man equals him in strength. 没有谁的力气比得上他。 但是不说: 18. resist v.对抗1) 表示“抵抗;反抗;抗拒”,既可用作及物动词,也可用作不及物动词。 如:The nation was unable to resist the invasion. 该国无力抵抗侵略。 2) 表示“抵挡;保持原状;不受……的伤害;抗(酸);耐(热等)”,为及物动词,通常接名词或动词-ing形式作宾语。如:The bank strongly resisted cutting interest rates. 银行强烈反对降低利率。19. courageous的基本含义adj.勇敢的,英勇的,有胆量的 近义词:brave例句Please pray for this poor but courageous girl. 请为这个可怜但勇敢的女孩祷告。20. deliver v.传递,递送 例句: to deliver mails / 投递邮件to deliver a package / 投递包裹放弃;Do some exercises at Page12 PracticeAsk and answerTake notesCorrect mistakesLearn the newPracticeAsk and answerTake notesCorrect mistakes Practice makes perfect.Consolidation
