have + 一段时间 + off 休息一段时间
off 在这里作副词,意为“不上班”。“have + 一段时间+off”意为“休息一段时间”,该短语中的have还可以用take来代替。

anything special 意为“特别的事情”形容词special修饰不定代词anything。当形容词修饰不定代词或不定副词时,放在这些词的后面。

5.as soon as 意为“一......就......”在其引导的时间状语从句的复合句中,主句用一般将来时,从句用一般现在时代替将来。即“主将从现”原则。

精讲点拨 突破疑难:
状语从句——时间状语从句
状语主要是用来修饰动词和形容词的,以表明动作发生或状态存在的时间、地点、原因等。状语从句就是用一个句子来做时间状语和原因状语等。本模块主要涉及的是时间状语从句。
一、时间状语从句的引导词
时间状语从句常用的引导词有:when / while / as当……时;before在……之前;after在……之后;since自从;until / till到……为止;as soon as一……就……。如:
It was raining hard when I got to school yesterday.
While he was doing his homework, the telephone rang.
He had learned a little Chinese before he came to China.
After he finished middle school, he went to work in a factory.
As soon as he got there, he started to work.
二、含时间状语从句的复合句中的“主将从现”现象
在时间状语从句中,通常不用将来时态,而是用现在时表示将来的动作或状态。如:
I’ll ring you up as soon as I get to New York.
I will tell him everything when he comes back.
He won’t believe it until he sees it with his own eyes.
till/until:在带有till或until引导的时间状语从句的主从复合句中,如果主句用肯定式,其含义是“一直到……为止”,主句的谓语动词用延续性动词。如果主句用否定式,其含义是“直到……才……”,主句的谓语动词用非延续性动词。
Let’s wait until the rain stops.
We won’t start until Bob comes.
Since:since意为“从……以来;自从”,其后可接时间点,也可接从句。接从句时,主句常用现在完成时,从句常用一般过去时。
I haven't written home since Christmas.
He has studied very hard since he came to our school.
when/ while/as
1.when可表示“当……时”,引导的从句表示主句的动作和从句的动作同时发生;或主、从句表示的动作先后发生;也可以表示某一个动作正在进行时,另一个动作突然发生。
—What were you doing when I came into the classroom —I was reading.
When they arrived at the station, the train had left.
My pen dropped on the ground when I was walking in the park.
2.while也可表“当……时”,引导的时间状语从句用来表示某事发生时的较长的时间背景,从句通常要用进行时。如果主句和从句中的动作是两个同时进行的长时间动作或事件,那么主句也要用进行时。
While we were boating on the lake, we saw a fish jump out of the water.
I was doing my homework while my father was watching TV.
3.as意为“当……时;一边……一边……”,引导的时间状语从句常常用来表示主句和从句的动作是短时间的动作并且是同时发生的。
As the students walked along the lake, they sang happily.
