1.What happened 发生什么事儿了？
happen, [动词］发生；碰巧。主要有以下用法：
① sth.happened+地点／时间状语，“某地／某时发生了某事”。
The road accident happened this morning.
这场交通事故发生在今天早上。
② sth.happened to sb. 主语为物，“某事发生在某人身上”即“某人发生了某事”。
询问“某人发生了什么事？”，用“What happened to sb. ”这一句型，其同义表达为“What was wrong with sb. ”和“What was the matter with sb. ”
An accident happened to him this morning.
今天上午他发生了一起交通事故。
2.Nobody was late except me.除了我，没人迟到。（只有我迟到了。）
辨析：except与besides
①except 除……之外 “整体中不包括除了的部分”，含有排除之意，表示“真除”；在句子开头时，须用except for接名词，不可只用except
②besides 除了……（还有）“整体中包括除了的部分”，含有附加之意，表示“假除”。
All the other five students arrived late except me.
除了我，其他五位学生都来晚了。(晚到的学生中不包括“我”）
Five other students arrived late besides me.
除了我，还有五位学生来晚了。(晚到的学生中包括“我”）
3.Maybe I should go to school by taxi. 也许我该打的去上学。
辨析：maybe与 may be
①maybe 是一个副词，表示“大概，也许”，只能作状语，常位于句首；
②may be，是两个词，may是情态动词，与be连用作句子的谓语，意思是“可能是，也许是”，位于句中。
Maybe he is at school.
也许他在学校。
He may be at school.
他也许在学校。
【拓展】
①“by+交通工具”中的交通工具名词只能是单数原形，而且和by中间没有任何修饰词，即by直接加交通工具，这是介词短语。
②“in/on+冠词/形物代+交通工具”，这也是介词短语。
③“take+a/the+交通工具”，这个是动词短语，“乘坐……”。
④ “骑自行车”的动词短语是ride a bike, 介词短语by bike； “步行”的介词短语是on foot。
4.That’s a good choice.那是个不错的选择。
choice， [可数名词］选择
make a choice “做出选择”
have no choice but to do sth. “除了做某事外别无选择”
We each had to make a choice.
我们每个人都得做出选择。
We had no choice but to wait for the next bus.
除了等下一辆公共汽车，我们别无选择。

5.Her home is the closest to the school, so she walks. 她家离学校最近，所以她走路（上学）。
close to “离……近”，与far from 意思相对。closest是形容词 close 的最高级，前加the。
①close/kl s/ [形容词］“(距离上）近的，接近的”
Our school is close to the bus station.
我们学校离公交站很近。
② close/kl s/ [形容词]“ (关系上)亲密的”
I have a close friend. 我有一位密友。
③close/kl s/ [副词] “(距离上）接近地”

④close/kl z/ [及物动词］“关；关闭”，其过去式和过去分词都是 closed.反义词是open “打开”。
