(一)Warming-up
1. Greetings

2. Free talk
- T: What do you usually do after school
- Ss: I usually do my homework, watch TV, play games, etc.
- T: Do you go to any places near your home
- Ss: Yes, I go to the park, the shop, etc.
- T: That's great. Today we are going to talk about the places near our homes.
设计意图:通过日常问候和轻松的自由谈话,拉近师生距离,营造和谐的课堂氛围。同时,引出本节课的主题“家附近的场所”,激发学生的学习兴趣和已有知识经验,为后续教学做好铺垫。
(二)Presentation
1. Learn new words
- Show pictures of different places near home on the PPT, such as a park, a shop, a school, a hospital, a library, and a restaurant. Point to each picture and teach the corresponding words one by one.
- T: Look at this picture. What's this It's a park. Park, say it after me.
- Ss: Park.
- Use the same way to teach other words.
- After teaching the new words, play a guessing game. Show a part of a picture of a place and let students guess what it is. For example, show only the slide of a park, and ask students:
- T: What's this Guess!
- Ss: Is it a park
- T: Yes, you are right. It's a park.
- Then, teach the方位介词near, behind, in front of, next to using the pictures and simple gestures. For example, put a book near a pen and say:
- T: Look, the book is near the pen. Near, it means close to something. Now, say “near”.
- Ss: Near.
- Use the same way to demonstrate and teach other方位介词, and let students practice using the phrases with the new words and方位介词, such as “There is a park near my home.” “The shop is behind the school.” etc.

2. Text learning
- Open the textbook and turn to Lesson 3《Near My Home》. Let students look at the pictures in the text and guess what the two students are talking about.
- T: Look at these pictures. What do you think they are talking about
- Ss: They are talking about the places near their homes.
- T: Very good. Now let's listen to the tape and find out what places they mention.
- Play the tape of the text for the first time and ask students to listen carefully and just listen, not to read.
- After listening, ask students to answer the question.
- Ss: They mention a park, a shop, and a school.
- T: Right. Now let's listen to the tape again and this time, follow the tape and read the text silently. While reading, pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation, and try to understand the meaning of the text.
- Play the tape again and students read silently.
- Then, ask some students to read the text aloud paragraph by paragraph. The teacher corrects their pronunciation and intonation if necessary.
- After that, explain the key sentences and difficult points in the text. For example, explain the use of方位介词in the sentences “There is a park near my home. It's behind the school.” and help students understand the meaning and usage of these sentences.

1. Sentence pattern practice
- Show some pictures of different places on the PPT and ask students to make sentences using the sentence pattern “There is a...near my home. It's...(behind/in front of/next to)...”. For example:
- T: (Show a picture of a shop near a house) What can you say about this picture
- Ss: There is a shop near my home. It's next to the house.
- Let students practice in pairs, using the pictures on the PPT to make sentences. They can take turns to ask and answer.
- After practicing for a while, ask some pairs to come to the front of the class and show their sentences to the whole class. The other students listen carefully and check if their sentences are correct.

For example:
- There is a park in front of our school.
- The shop is next to my home.
- After they finish drawing and writing, each group chooses a representative to come to the front of the class and present their map and descriptions to the whole class. The other groups can ask questions and make comments.

- Introduction: I live in a beautiful neighborhood. There are many places near my home.
- Body: There is a park near my home. It's a great place to play and relax. The shop is next to the park. We can buy daily necessities there. My school is not far from my home. It's in front of the library.
- Conclusion: I love the places near my home. They make my life more convenient and interesting.
- After writing, ask some students to read their passages aloud and the teacher gives feedback and evaluation. Praise the students for their good work and point out the areas that need improvement, such as grammar mistakes, spelling errors, and the use of words and sentences.

3. Talk with your parents or friends in English about the places near your home and share your map and introduction with them.
